This is an unfortunate side effect of how Jeb re-implemented beaches. Original beaches were built into the core of terrain gen...they could be in any biome. The way Jeb put them back, he made beach mini-biomes that get sprinkled around the coastlines. Being their own biomes, they are impervious to the weather effects of neighboring biomes.
generation is a little odd still, I was walking around my server with F3 up. I was in a ice plains and all the sudden it would change to jungle or desert and the grass pokeing through the snow would change colors
Is anyone saying same-sex couples can't love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?" –Rick Santorum
Wish I could find random things like this. First thought is, "Oh sweet. That is different. Wonder what I can build from that..." rather then complain about "crappy terrain that isn't uniform like 95% of the rest of the world."
Now we only need more volcanic looking water and some smoke coming up from the water
My first thought was actually, "What if there was a volcano under that?" but I didn't want to spark the debate about adding a volcano biome again.
I still think it would be neat to have something like this; that once every night-fall performs a check on a 1% or less chance; hit that 1% (or less) and the whole thing explodes and is replaced by a volcano. I'd settle there... talk about living on the edge.
as you can see, its a lake... in the middle of a snwo biome. a hot spring? notch's secret? just odd generation? discuss.
EDIT: seed is 'Forever Alone' (caps) or 1492503074 if that didnt work, and the coords are x 350, z 0
you dont say? but weird thing is, theres a lake next to it, and it is covered in ice. this one isnt.
mini desert? impossble.
It will be beach around the edges, and ocean or river over the water.
