They should stop adding to the world generation and concentrate on adding more technical reciepies out of materials we already have. For example: Better than wolves, you can still progress threw there current tech tree with a 1.5 world!
They need to make oceans worthwile to explore. Sunken ships and coral reefs really need to be in them and more ways to increase underwater breathing to go with those additions. Right now if you spawn in an ocean you may as well restart because they are boring and massive.
Mod API maybe. Optimization. The ability to make a note box or records with music from the hard drive in it.
Is that even possible for music disks/blocks 0.o

If Facebook, Google Plus, Tumblr, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
maybe like a telescope? (just an idea, I'm sure you guys can come up with a better idea than that xD).
Holy crud! That's an EXCELLENT idea!
Imagine, instead of having to wait for chunks to load to explore, you just climb a tree and use your telescope to look farther than the render distance!
I think they should really focus on Modding API, bug fixes, FPS Optimization, the Desert Structures and Stronghold improvements, and maybe some more Village AI and features.
Uh huh, there are no fatal bugs at all. Because that's not what a developer is suppose to do AKA fix bugs.
They fixed all the fatal game-breaking bugs...i want them to keep adding stuff to keep it interesting....fixing bugs is not what developers are for only....on the wiki NOW there aren't that many bad bugs...just little ones,,,i haven't noticed a single bug while playing...since 1.2 came out...since they are so tiny i would rather them do something fun and interesting than waste a month of development trying to fix every tiny little bug in the game,,,i read the wiki every time a new snapshot comes out and yeah earlier it was buggie but they worked most of them out by the release of the patch...you don't have to just do bug fixes...i would rather have a fun game than a bug-free game...
Fair point indeed. I want new content to but I'd much rather have mod API at this point :3

Continue working on villages to make them more worth looking for and possibly some biome-specific items to encourage exploring. I have yet to personally experience any bugs with 1.2.3 but those are always important to fix.
And finally, please make creeper explosions more deadly than they currently are, at least on hard difficulty. I've been away from Minecraft for a while and I remember being terrified of creeper explosions, now they've just turned into a slight nuisance because you have to take a minute to repair the environment or a tiny area of your shelter. I want to be terrified of creepers again.

Just a question for you: When you mean by making the creeper explosions more deadly, you mean by damage to player or Environmental damage (destroys more blocks) or both?

I was talking about damage done to the player, I'm not actually sure if the damage a creeper does to the environment was changed at all to be honest.
I really wish they would add in the rest of the potions that show up in the wiki. There are quite a few cool potion effects they have listed that can't be crafted yet. I know that this is not high on the priority list though, which makes me sad.
As well as bugs, I like the desert stronghold idea and them generating closer to the surface and making them like a dungeon. Many people may hate me, but I can wait for the Modding API until 1.4

They should do another bug fix update; no new content, just fixing current problems (eg. boats).
Also, work on improving overall FPS, there seems to be a distinctive lack.

There are lots of things that would be nice, but what we really need now is bug fixes (especially for multiplayer).
