Make it so ambience sounds can be muted with music instead of sounds. I don't want to mute mob sounds just to get rid of ambience sounds. Or make ambience sounds have its own toggle function, its starting to get annoying hearing it all the time.
Jungle feels dead. Needs ambient sounds too. (basically everywhere needs more of this). Map height, cool, but something needs to take advantage of this. Mountain biomes need to create some "Matterhorn" type peaks, and possibly new ores at those heights, or reasons to go hunting for cool things that live up high.
awesome update... love the jungle, enemy ai improvements and iron golem.
my only fussy gripe is that there is no animation for zombiez banging my wooden doors down. they just stand ther motionless even though i can hear them banging
I started playing in 1.8, my son got me into it and helped a lot, very fun game. Notch made an amazing product. Jeb has followed on with some amazing updates. Very nice work being done here. I totally agree with mainly the first comment above. I can't wait to see Zombies breaking my door down but animated would be cooler. Overall nice work!
I am a little angry that Jens and Jon didn't change terrain generation (at least for mountains) to use some of the newfound space made in Anvil.
Unfortunatly, many things with mods will be a pain to update. The 4006 block IDs is a hint towards an API :D.
Am I the only one who still feels like the whole update put out so early is a bad joke?
The whole update has so many problems (the vast majority of them already were in the snapshots) that I do not think that this is worth releasing nor playing at the moment.
I'd love to play it, but I refuse to because I fear fixing some of these will hamper with world generation again and I don't like importing my stuff into new worlds every few days.
And what ate some of these 'problems'?
Anyways, 1.2 is amazing. Treehouses are amazing, but jungles seem to take up too much of my map, so my creative maps are restricted a bit...
I like the new update, but the new world height would have been a little bit smaller, like 200 instead of 255?
The remaining 55 would have made the game deeper instead, and if they had in their minds to add some ores they would have been added same time when world was made deeper. What i wrote may be a little bit messy and not accurate, but still.
Otherwise game is fine now, atleast in creative! ( I just like building empires).
My least favorite part is the performance. In 1.1 I got around 250 constant FPS on default @1920x1080x32 maxed out with optifine multicore. Now with preview optifine I get 60-80 FPS with same settings, and in jungles I get about 40-60. The hell happened? My build is 1 month old.

I'm enjoying the upside-down stairs a lot more than I thought I would. Also really loving jungles. The giant trees are awesome (please make this work for pines and oaks too, Jeb)! I'm kinda disappointed in the villager changes. I was really hoping that breeding villagers would make my town feel more alive, but there aren't enough villagers to matter. Which is funny, because other people have runaway breeding problems that are so bad they have to kill villagers by the hundreds. I think the villager breeding code needs some serious tweaking to give us villages that have more hustle and bustle without either being ghost towns or overpopulated breeding grounds.
But, mostly, I find this release to be plain ol' buggy. Jungles bring my computer to a grinding halt (it's almost brand new and has 4GB of RAM) and SMP is still glitchy as ever. I hope they can fix these problems in short order.
