The strays and husks are very interesting. Right now I wouldn't consider them worthy of biome exclusiveness though unless there were more variants like them. I think a better use for them would be to have them appear deep underground (below depth 40 or something around there) along with cave spiders. This would make caves more threatening by having stronger enemies than the surface. But they are really cool and I hope more mob variants get added to the game. Perhaps have completely new variants for cave monsters.
Yknow? I'm surprised that not one person has talked about the structure blocks yet. They're so cool! I mean, basically we have world edit now. We can even rotate and turn upside down structures! Now we don't have to deal with laggy and annoying /clone. And when they're fixed, the "data" structure blocks (I'm guessing) will probably be able to modify mobs and blocks Nbt tags with blocks, meaning we can actully get vanilla lottery machines without 100 /setblock commands. We can also have villagers that are changing they're clothes and trades, without /entitydata. So cool!

I've not really had time but I certainly plan on playing with the structure blocks. After the updated command blocks in 1.9 this will be the next step to some really interesting map making...
Probably my favorite feature is auto-jump. Now my keyboard will probably last much longer. Also, savanna villages automatically burning down is the most hilarious oversight I've ever seen in Minecraft development.

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
They should have built the savanna blacksmiths out of andesite.
Now that I've put my useless shout post out of the way, time for some important input.
This time I wanted to get few spoilers and actually use the snapshot to discover a bunch of new features for myself. Based on what that blog post said, I thought a large preset world of nothing but mesa would be the best idea. The post said there was a new mob that spawned in hot areas, and a "shiny surprise" at the end of mineshaft tunnels. Husks and high elevation gold ore.
I really think the best thing about it was the mineshafts opening up on the surface. Surface mineshafts kick ass. Aside from that, what I got was gold ore generating in plenty of easily accessible places and not one husk.
The moment I stopped using preset worlds and found a desert legitimately, husks started showing up everywhere. But "hot and dry biomes" should include mesas and savannas as well, not just deserts. This says to me that Mojang made an oversight, either with what kind of biomes are already hot and dry, or whether trying to find husks in a custom world would reveal a bug.
I'm definitely erring towards the first possibility, because the wiki says that the desert and its variants are what a husk will spawn in.
So don't go looking for those guys in a savanna or mesa.
I also had the idea to get killed by one of them. So far the mob statistics will reveal nothing about what husks you've killed (which I tried first), but straight up dying to a husk will actually tell you that, indeed, you were killed by a husk.
(God, when are they going to stop directly addressing me in third person?)

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
Gamelord clambered from the pit. He was covered in dirt. and he collapsed on the ground as he tried to stand. He held a piece of paper with a screenshot. "I... Found it. The apparent... Wireless redstone. It was on the 1.9.4 page... Apparently a... Teas-"
Hmm, I don't quite get it.
Wait well. I was going to say that the Redstone Lamp wasn't lit, so the redstone obviously wasn't getting transferred.
And then I realized I was totally off the mark. Cause all that stuff is still in your inventory. So I don't even know now.
The light detector also throws me off.

I'm referring to Gamelords post above. I recall hearing that one of the devs alluded to wireless redstone, but hadn't ever heard anymore about it. In the image he links to the hot bar appears to have items that mimic a wireless circuit.
I'm not sure anyone else has discovered this yet. But apparently sky color is now determined by the biome you're in. So far I've only found that deserts have a slightly brighter sky color. You can really notice the difference when you walk into a desert border.

This armory is made out of woods and it catches fire.

Savannah Villages in a nutshell.
Really, who thought Wood was a good resource to hold the lava in a Blacksmith?

Add some extra pits, cactus, and zombies and you have villagers in a nutshell.
Figured it was time for a change.
This should be amusing.
Why are guinea pigs called guinea pigs when they are neither pigs or from guinea?

Nothing about wireless redstone made it into the snapshot did it?
That teaser image appears to be indicating collecting sunlight and beaming it like a laser to a receptor circuit on the other end.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

Tell me I'm not the only one who picked up on the remark in the "changelog" of 1.9.4 on the old herobrine joke.

Difference in sky colour was added in 1.2.

Heh heh... my bad...
Yeah they seem to be trying to end the joke by making a joke out of it...... Or something to that effect.
