I'll have to disagree on this one here. Swords Dance boosts Blaze Kick
but it doesn't boost Fire Blast. Also the fact Blaze Kick is the most
important physical move for Blaziken among Superpower/Brick Break and
when your Fight Stab is immune or not very effective against something
then that's where your #2 Stab comes in. Overall damage even without
Swords Dance the Blaze Kick does much more than Fire Blast with that EV
spread and nature.
Also not like Blaze Kick doesn't do enough on Forretress anyways. So
only thing where Fire Blast is even slightly better is physically
defensive Skarmory, which isn't going to stay against a Blaziken.
252+ Atk Blaziken Blaze Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Forretress: 172-208 (94.5 - 114.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
shields make them managable huh? how about when 2 skeletons are firing at you at the same time so one of them is always firing while the other one is on cooldown? now this MIGHT be managable with a shield except you can only walk with your shield up so u can never drop ur shield while ur going over to them,
Then you need to think more. That's what The Combat Update is all about: forcing you to think and be clever in combat. Try using your ability to place and break any block in the game. Retreat to an area you can easily manipulate and build walls and pillars to force them to move to where you can slaughter them with ease, or try building a crossbar so they stop cold, allowing you to safely attack their feet.
Minecraft gives you many tools and techniques to fight the new skeletons. It's up to you to make use of them.

except i cant use the sweep attack while walking backwards (unless i hold shift i think) so i have tos tand still or move so slow im gana get hit, overall the prsetation of 1.9's combat is just tedious, its almost twice as long to kill any given mob as its 1.8 counterpart
The sweep attack is always active as long as you're not jumping or sprinting, the direction you're moving does not matter.
Line 'em up, and watch 'em shoot eachother down.
No seriously, too many skeletons will easily provoke a war between them all, leaving you to have some time to grab popcorn and eat until only 1-2 of them are left. Then you can easily deal with the last ones standing, as they'll usually have significantly less health.
thats only fun in a game like doom because you can move fast enough to run between the projectiles, here its just tedious. and with such an increase in difficulty in combat what am i getting out of it? nerfed armor and nerfed durability rates. you name some tedious methods for fighting a group of skeletons but i didnt HAVE to do any long winded boring strategy before now, and i dont want to. 1.9 is a huge dissapointment and i hope they backtrack soon
My thoughts exaclty. They are polarized mobs with strengths and weaknesses pushed to extremes, and dangerous if you're not cautious. And like little mac, a "patch" has made them more polarized but still not that good because their weaknesses are just so exploitable. Tedious, but exploitable. And to a large degree exploitable. Emphasis on exploitable.
i think the keyword in your post is TEDIOUS who cares if they are exploitable if im not having fun doing it?

minecraft is a creative game with combat elements, not a combat game with creative elements, if i have to stop and break blocks every time i want to get rid of a skeleton then this game is gana die,.....or atleast nobody will adopt 1.9
First of all I completely agree with the dude who posted this thread. PvP and PvE is ruined especially PvP because minecraft is the only game that has the unique PvP mechanics that it has in 1.8, and I love them just the way they were. Mojang please recall the update.
This is the first update I have absolutely hated. How many years has this game been out? Now they want us to completely learn how to play it? The new combat is horrible.
it has ruined survival mode just so that the pvpers can have their "fun" (it sounds like even they dont like it)
Get a shield. If you block and a skeleton shoots you, you won't take damage.
(ill try not to get too off topic here)
Competitive pvper since 2010. My reactions to the snapshots:
1st snapshot: God, mojang better fix some of this
2nd snapshot: is this black ops 3 last gen? This is trash.
3rd snapshot:Well shields. Lets see what these do.
Five minutes later after small pvp tests: *Slams laptop lid* "I'm done. You were good when you lasted." *Turns on PS4*
There is a reason no servers have updated to 1.9 yet. Anyways though, if you just can't stand it after all of these suggestions, just play on 1.8.9.
Mojang aren't going to recall it because a bunch of people whine and cry on the forums. At the moment it sounds like the OP is looking for any excuse not to deal with it.
"I can't swing whilst going backwards", please. Now you just making weak excuses. I guarantee in 6 months people will have got used to it because they've took the time to keep practicing and think about the way they fight instead of having a couple of goes then come on to the forums complaining.

I 100% agree with both of you. Mojang will not do anything. However what I think will happen is that all the servers will stay 1.8 or will just be cross-platform and have 1.9 features removed.

... And that's totally because the update barely came out less than a day ago, and not because majority hates it, right? Because majority from any poll you take (that is public, and not just your group of server buddies) will show that majority loves it.

It's pretty easy to do in enclosed spaces, I actually always do this purely on accident, and it saves me a lot of times.
I do, however, think skeletons need to slow down to more fair speeds, such as the player speed when aiming, instead of just gliding across the ground.
-Shields (6 wood planks+1 iron this is very cheap to make early).
-Getting skellies to friendly fire another mob where they proceed to now fight to the death, use the distraction to mop them all up. This isn't hard to do and mobs are usually packed in tight anyways.
-Use blocks as cover as you get up closer. just throw down 2 vertical blocks and use that.
Really, if you can't counter them and you just expect to always win by running up and melee attacking them (which you can still do, they don't always notice you) then you need to brushup on your skills.

you are one of the many people who do not understand the difference between what i can do and what i want to do, i can counter skellies in all of those ways, but its tedious and i dont WANT to, they ruined the fun simple combat of minecraft. the combat: which i might add, which was NEVER THE FOCUS of this game

yea i would be less furious if they would just nerf the dam things

Skeletons are higher level mobs. Until you have adequate gear for them to be easy and not tedious (good bow, shield, wolf), then you would benefit best from running away to safety. Or lowering the difficulty/playing creative.
And there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, Mojang allows you to play every Minecraft build and modify the game just so you can enjoy an optimal gameplay experience.
I just hope people stop complaining about Minecraft's current direction which the majority likes and start taking advantage of Mojang's customizations.

P.S. Milotic is really good with Blaziken. At least in doubles.
