So it's just a fictional thing? Gameplay wise, it seems redundant, just an extra ingredient for potion recipes. Were potions imbalanced, or too easy to obtain in some way?

its not that bad. i mean 1 powder can get u like 26 potions.
I'm not actually complaining, I'm just wondering why. Minecraft is a fairly complex piece of software, do we make changes to it over nothing? I'm thinking there *must* be a reason, possibly a good reason, and I'm curious as to what it is.
There really isn't much of a gameplay use for it. I think it's mainly for balance and to make it slightly more challenging. That way you have to at least go to the nether sometimes after your first few trips. If you have a blaze farm though, it's not much different.
What is the reasoning behind needing fuel for the brewing stand? Without thinking about it in depth, It seems a needless extra step to me.
Part of it is an extra balance thing, I think.
Part of it is also I guess an extra heat source to make the brewing work.

So nobody knows a stated or imagined gameplay reason for this change?
its just a little change to make brewing more realistic. its not that hard to get powder and 1 makes like 26 potions i don't get y yr complaining.

nope. sometimes they just add things. its a cool little feature that dosent change much.
I really don't care lol, I can see how it adds more balance however. But I never use potions.. soo

I also don't see much reason for it, but one trip to the Nether will probably get more than you will need for a while.
And the addition doesn't change much at all.
You had to kill a Blaze to make the Brewing Stand in the first place, and you'll certainly kill more if you want Strength Potions.
So it shouldn't be that hard to kill more. Especially if you invest in a Bow.
I don't see much reason for it either. Completely agree.
One rod gives two powder.
If you make a fire resist, and strength potion, and camp the blaze spawner you found... getting fuel for this will be no issue.
I'd say it's unbalanced and an unnecessary addition, but I've never brewed a single potion, ever. So honestly, I don't care.
Eccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
It gives you a reason to go killing lots of blazes i guess!
I write short tales for my Minecraft Journal, Teds Tales!
Mojang has stated that they want Brewing to be more prominent in PVP and UHC. So they made brewing slightly... harder, and... more... complex...
Yeah, I got nothing.
