I'll second what Zarlog_Core24 says. I play survival and now the fun level is way lower for me. For my latest effort, I wanted to get some nether wart. Short story: went to nether, found two fortresses, neither of which had nether wart. It took 10x as long to explore the fortress. I died several times at first, then I died less but had to slow down to do individual combat with each mob to make it through. I've grinded for a couple hours or more, don't have any nether wart, and am looking at another hour or more to find another fortress and get some nether wart. Grind, grind, grind...
This sounds more like a case of very bad luck than a problem with combat. You did find two wart-less forts after all; that's not probable at all. Even then, though, it shouldn't be taking you 10x as long to fight through the forts; wither skeletons are melee mobs and are therefore incredibly easy to beat, and it's easy to bait the blazes into firing after which they're helpless for a good time if they're not floating over a pit. Netherforts are probably easier now than before since you can out-heal the DoTs with food, turning enemies that formerly could deal a lot of damage into something fairly laughable.
Even then, DPS shouldn't be an issue; it wasn't nerfed much in 1.9 if you're using a sword (if you're using an axe... don't use an axe). And you're in the endgame where you have access to weaponry that makes the game extremely easy anyway.

this combat also sucks because it depends what armor you have since you hit slow so dodging would be boring because the match would last like 20 minutes. now chorus fruit is probably gonna be so overused in servers look at me im gonna teleport away and then end the fight hahahahahhahahahahahha this is also stupid with monsters.

And Now Stone Axes Do 9 Damage And wooden axe does 7 Damage

2. Axes are slower than swords, and Damage per Second is also smaller. So, everything is quite balanced.

It's definitely not recommended. The newer launcher even shows warnings on that sort of thing.
I mostly like the new pvp update except for the shield system, i absolutely hate it.
It took a bit of playing around to get comfortable with the shield but I rather like it now. It comes in VERY handy when you get surprised by a creeper - assuming you already have it in the offhand ready to raise when you hear that hissing sound.
It took longer to explore because I had to change tactics. In 1.8, I could run through a fortress with some armor on and find safe corridors, etc. Now I seem to have to clear as I go instead of passing by mobs. Takes much longer

I'm not sure I get what you mean. Of course a 1.9 map will crash if played on 1.8, it will be missing the stuff added in 1.8, that's like trying to play a 1.8 map in Indev, you'll miss tons of blocks

Sorry if I'm a little out-of-context with my statement earlier. And yes it was just my personal opinion. Also, I'm not trying to say that '1.9 is horrible' in general. I felt like I'm not used to it yet (kinda) cause it literally blocks my field of view, especially when I'm fighting huge amount of monsters.
What most people hate about 1.9 is change. Everyone is just so used to 1.8 and below combat mechanics. Since pvp was added there were no big changes to combat, however now in 1.9 it is completely different. Most people don't like 1.9 because of how much change cooldowns mechanics and shields brought to minecraft 1.9, once everyone gets used to them so many people will no longer hate 1.9.
In my opinion cooldowns, dual wielding and shields are a great new addition to minecraft and I find it rather sad that a lot of servers are still doing 1.8/1.9, getting rid of the new features. However this is completely my opinion.
