Well...I'm all for the Telltale games Story Mode thing, just seems like it would be fun.
Don't really know/care about 1.9 that much. From what I saw it's basically a pvp update and I've never really been into that sort of thing. It's not bad, it's just different.
1.8 doesn't lag that much but taking forever to load a world and when it does it takes hours to load the chunks, moving on lag spikes occurring in minecraft 1.8... (only if the lag spikes are not occurring then i would play it :D)
Are you using 1.8.7? If you are, then don't. That update added some rendering/loading problems that can be really annoying. Go back to 1.8.6 and it should be fine.

owh... you think that might be the problem? but i used to play 1.8 only and it also lags...
I believe that the dual-wield update will create an awkwardness in the controls for a little while, and then people will become used to them. I personally think that dual wielding is a wonderful idea because it opens up doors in combat and survival and increases the value of every player in a battle. I don't exactly understand what spectral arrows do, but arrows with effects are cool as long as they don't go overboard with crazy effects. Telltale games working with Mojang to do story mode is ok with me as long as they don't mess it up. it looks pretty exciting.

You have a higher chance of getting hacked if you use 1.8.6, 1.8.7 fixed some security issues with the older versions.
Lets get to the point, First off dual-wielding will break quite a bit of minigames. Second,Story mode with TELLTALE GAMES!? WHY!? More Arrows, and the list goes on.
I am sure most server will not be 1.9 since some people might hate it hey mineplex might because it will make the tower game or whatever minigame that is more fun

Having been in the MC community from the very start i have noticed that there are many updates where people think "It looks to modded now" or "It's to much" but to be honest it never really is a bad thing. Take pistons for example, people freaked out when they were first added cause it was originally a mod -- Now they're used everywhere.
Okay... This is really peeving me to read all these negative comments! I have been with Minecraft since 2010 and every update this happens.
"This is going to be Minecraft's downfall!"
"Minecraft is going to suck now"
"It seems to modded"
"Ugg... its to much of a change!"
Really??? Just stop it. Please. Minecraft STILL growing bigger and bigger, and every update has turned out not being bad at all. People love Minecraft and always will. You just need to keep being creative with the things the developers keep giving you! Every update gives you an opportunity to be more creative and learn new applications to knew additions. The point of Minecraft is to be creative.
Next, for you who say "RIP Minecraft 1.8 Pvp.", I say So be it! And Welcome Minecraft Pvp 1.9!! Its going to be a whole new style... something new to learn and master. If things always stay the same they get boring. Quickly.
And Finally, think about the developers. They spend so much time and effort trying to bring the best content to the game possible. They are not like most game developers, they love to game and do not JUST do it for money. They do it so people will enjoy it. Imagine what you would feel like if you made a Masterful painting and it took you hours and hours of work. Then someone came up to you and told you it was bad. What would you feel like.
I'm sorry for this rant but It just had to be said.

I really don't get why you are so upset about 1.9. The community came up with this update at for the most part, so I'm sorry you didn't get your say in the decision, but then again we really don't know whether or not you even tried to have a say.
Mojang is also too busy dealing with major problems, such as a recent Ddos attack, to worry about ungrateful players such as you.
P.S to anyone who wants to answer this question: Why aren't there any threads on this forum discussing the Ddos attack on Mojang?
I don't know why people seem to be so against the changes of 1.9 honestly, of what we have seen so far I am super excited, because they seem to be adding a lot an expending on the game every day, I hope this means were getting closer to a sea expansion with bigger boats.

1.8: Sucks completely sucks, i hated this update that why i stick to 1.7 till 1.9 release..
as for 1.9? Yup i am for it,i have this feeling of this update it will be a massive update that would really change minecraft to the better
we missed similar updates... 1.5 only added redstone (but i loved this update) 1.6.. Horses.. only -.-, 1.7 added blocks and.. some world stuff nothing new, 1.8 added tons and tons of lag spikes and useless stuff
as for 1.9? i think it would be awesome (unless something happened that will also turn it into 1.8...)
it will NOT ruin any minigame it will just make them more intense...
and dual wielding is (a lot said what is that before me, won't explain that again..)
1.8 didn't suck. It was the bountiful update. The goal of the update was to add many more features for mapmakers, and add all sorts of new little items and things to collect in survival. Did the update do what it was intended to do? Yes. New redstone possibilities, flying machines, and extremely powerful command blocks are all good things!

1.8 had stuff that are useless but as for the commands and other new redstone things are awesome, but i dont like this update because of lag..
EDIT: just bought a new computer and finally getting over 70 FPS with Fancy and Far render distance and loading quick (i can finally play 1.8 now :'D)

I mostly agree with you, except for this paragraph. And what I don't agree with is using it to try and convince someone to not hate on 1.9. The developers' feelings have nothing to do with 1.9's content at all.
As for what I would feel like? I wouldn't care in the slightest. A person who tells me that something is bad without explaining why is not a person worth listening to.

Guys minecraft story mode has nothing to do with 1.9. It just happens that they are being developed at the same time.
And it's a different company creating it.

I'm just a very boring person.

I just really hope they make a 1.8.8 to fix the annoying loading issues, and so I don't have to go to the insecure versions.

Dual Wielding probably will break some old things, but at the same time it will open up new possibilities.

The bigger an update, the better.

Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.

I'd just like to point something out.
"Ugh having a second arm ruins it!!!!"
Don't use the second arm then....
Simple....
Also, pretty sure they'd have it as an option.
