after 1.7.9 or even earlier than that its really a whole hardware issue. legacy problems. not ram either minecraft runs oon 1gb of ram even less ive ran it with 256 mb of ram on an xp computer although it wasnt 1.8 it was no opengl2 support on that dinosaur but minecraft is a cpu heavy game. although there have been reports of water lag and water temple lag. looking at huge bodies of water or being near a water temple could lag or even crash games

the earth first! we can strip mine the rest of the universe after. click the up arrow if i helped.
believe it or not, having anymore than 2 gigs allocated will lag it more then if you only had one gig allocated
well that depends. you can put say 2 gb of ram to your minecraft and be perfectly fine if you have 16gb of ram but if you have say 4 gb of ram then yea you might see some hiccups. 2gb to minecraft 1 to the os and then 1gb to whatever webpage you might have open or music program or anything really and youre ging to have an overload which is what will cause lag

Yes, but only since 1.8.3, and only in certain situations. I don't get lag in the nether, end, or when exploring a new area; I do get lag when a chunk I have built something in loads. I'd post a bit more by way of examples, but the spam filter keeps eating posts.
IS 1.8 Totally lagging for you:
GET SOME R.A.M- 5GB should do good.
I have 16GB ram and it is TOTALLY FINE xD
