So this shield slot is actually not shields at all, but instead putting something in your left hand? That's kinda disappointing, but hey, LEFTY POWER!!! 1! 2! 3! As soon as this comes I am making my character left handed like my IRL character.

Probably me too.

I'm pretty excited for this! Also: I was going through your old posts and one of them was one discussing a quote from Mojang which said "Every update will be 2 months starting with 1.5." That didn't even last two updates, haha.

So offhand items will have right-click functionality, but not left-click functionality. Perhaps the control for offhand use should be SHIFT + attack button. As the dominant hand has a use function (right-click) and an attack function (left-click), SHIFT + right-click is already taken, so for the offhand (by default left) there should be SHIFT + left-click to use. Any opinions?
If there is a toggle to switch between the hands then that wouldn't really have any advantages over the current system (unless of course torches started emitting light while held). Left and right hand would each need their separate attack and action key-binds and I personally don't see how that would work since there are only 3 "main" mouse buttons on the average mouse.

I'm speculating a "SHIFT + left-click" bind for using the left hand. It has been said that the left hand won't have an attack feature, only an action bind.
There will always be that kind of a moment at least once in everyone's life. That moment when your sitting there listening to someone going down memory lane, but really not listening at all.

It was my understanding from DB's tweets that he wants to make the game lefty-friendly alongside dual-wielding, to achieve that both hands need to have the same features and be interchangeable in everyday gameplay. If that is indeed the goal then I'll be curious how the key-bind layout will be like, probably both an active hand toggle and a set of key-binds (4 in total) that let us bind actions and attacks individually. Maybe there could also be an attack or action toggle, so you could bind left hand action to LMB and right hand action to RMB and click the MMB to toggle between attack and action.
Personally I'd lean towards individual binds, just to maintain single-click controls, having to hold buttons or toggle all the time would get old really fast. Unfortunately my mouse isn't really very good for that, though with brute force my brain could probably make it second nature.
You know what we should all suggest to Mojang on reddit? To actually release a snapshot. I think that's one of the best Minecraft suggestions i've heard in a few months.

Of course all the controls will be customizable, you would be able to set the dominant hand to be left or right. But since dual weilding won't be effective for weapons, I'm assuming that the non-dominant hand won't be able to attack, and it will serve some other roll.
Then i should get a better computer before they release 1.9

Why? Big update doesn't mean that you won't be able to run it, heck my 8 year old laptop does more than fine with minecraft.
Dual hand usage definitely seem to have some interesting uses and just plain going lefty sounds fun. Still
waiting to find out what these other arrows are and what kind of shields we will be looking at.
I can't believe people would rage against bunnies smh... Had any of them ever heard of youtube? or the
minecraft wiki? Demand the rabbits!

So, does anyone think that the direction you swing your sword actually matter. Or am I just wistfully thinking?
Ok: I THINK that I finally added everything! Probably! Maybe! .........I hope.....
