So assuming no one else finds security exploits and then such (which are bound to exist no matter what, people just need to find them), 1.8 should not be receiving anymore updates. No need to make a big deal out of this.
They said there *might* be a snapshot this week, which isn't going to happen, and now they say there *might* be one next week (their goal is to release it then), so I'm still doubtful of the release date. It's already taken them almost a year for a snapshot, so why should it come out next week and not the week after, or the week after that?
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If you're the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP!", copy and paste this as your signature.
Well, at least this time Dinnerbone gave a release date. Before they just said "sometime in January, sometime in June, sometime next week" but now we know that if by July 29 there's no snapshot than it got delayed again, whereas "sometime next week" could mean 11:59pm on Saturday.
However, he said no guarantees, which doesn't sound very good. Regardless, all you can do is get your hopes up that your hopes won't go back down.
1.8 came out not that long ago so it will probably won't come out for a little bit. It also depends on how much they've developed of it already.
The first 1.8 snapshot came out 1 and a half years ago. That's quite some time. It's also been declared by Dinnerbone that they are aiming to release the first 1.9 snapshot on Wednesday, July 29th (3 days from now). I suggest you look into that a bit before commenting.
