He used the "secret" way to get a mob skull to look like a player. (Herobrine is probably an easter egg.) He then put the skull on like a helmet.
But come to think of it, the wiki says there's an actual user called "Herobrine," but nobody knows who owns the account. His skin is probably the obvious, hence the skull working. Maybe...
Yes, there is a property in head items called 'SkullOwner', which changes the skin of the head to match the head of the 'owner'. The exact name he used was not 'Herobrine', but I do not want to reveal the true owner out of respect to Hypixel (Hint, starts with the letter J). Who ever owns this account could troll this adventure map to an epic fail if they changed their skin to something else.
Although there is an account under the name of Herobrine, that skin used does not have a beard, a feature apperent of the cannonical Herobrine, as it was based off the classic 'steve' skin. This lack of authenticity may have been the reason to use a different account for the 'SkullOwner' property. It is a rather ingenious method of adding custom content without using mods.
Using the 'SkullOwner' property has allowed me to do similar things in my adventure map, Order of the Stone. It must also be noted that if you play an adventure map using this feature, without an internet connection, all player skulls will use the default steve skin, regardless of the owner, as the game cannot connect to the minecraft.net database where skins are located.
If given permission, I will reveal the identity of the Herobrine head users account. IDK if anyone other than me and Hypixel knows who it is, and I am not saying I am the only one. But if nobody else but us 2 knows, then I should keep this a secret unless told otherwise.
This was a really good map and well thought out. You took into account people playing co-op and people playing alone. There many special effects with maze and ending. Your use of command blocks is sophisticated and well placed. Also the mobs are made to give more variety and as you advance in the game they get harder. The location and the mansion was designed very well. You made look a mod thanks for time.
WOW, this was the best adventure map I've ever played. I hope there will be a 2nd part :3
I could play this map 20 times in multiplayer and it wouldn't get boring
Hey hypixel, when i got to the skeleton king, the text was fine, but nothing happened, so i used x-ray (i never cheat on survival or maps) and i saw all the redstone was broken! can you tell why?
I really like this map, but the I wonder he actually made it! I understand a lot of it used NEdit and MCEdit, but how'd you get the colored tools or putting the armor on the enemies, or even setting the specific drops each enemy has! Good map by the way!
Damn this is an awesome map! I downloaded it a little while ago, and I have to say: Wonderful job, Hypixel. This is amazing! This inspired me to make my own adventure map, one with a class system and customized items (using NBTEdit, of course). Brilliant, just brilliant.
To those people who don't know how it's made:
There is a 3rd party tool called NBTEdit that lets you edit certain aspects of items and mobs. So you can add descriptions to items, as well as custom names (or you can use an anvil) and enchantments. For the mobs, you can give them custom items and equipment, and custom drops (like how the bosses drop music discs). The rest was command blocks, MCEdit, BUD switches, and genius
Also people, the multiplayer spawnpoint is off because in multiplayer you can spawn anywhere within 20 blocks of the singleplayer spawnpoint (you just spawned somewhere you weren't supposed to be).
And for the redstone disappearing, don't use xray! Many multiplayer xray hacks also have a griefing tool that destroys redstone when xrayed, such as Nodus.
Just tried it two days ago with my bud,and I got to say,we had so much fun!The map is great, the concept is great, everything abou this map is cool.Good job and keep up the good work
Loved the map, played it alone on hard
got killed a lot, lol
took some time killing Herobrine,
took a longer time killing the Wither,
gave a huge sigh of relief when I beat it,
gave up when I got to the very end.
I am trying to figure out how you made hostile mobs that dont despawn . Also how you got each boss to never despawn. i have figured out how to customize the health, damage, armor, and drops of mobs but i have no idea how to stop them for despawning ? what am i doing wrong!
K so i plan on playing this on lan with a friend, do i need to enable anything (command blocks or no mob spawn) or will it just work? and does anyone know if the wayukian texture pack look good on this?
