I am planning on getting a new computer for Christmas, but I wonder: "Can I go to the Minecraft website on the same computer email and get Minecraft for free if I login to my existing account?" It has been stuck in my head for a while and I would like it to be answered. If you can't reinstall it for free but on a different computer, let me know different ways so I don't lose my Minecraft account.
Well I am not sure what you are saying here answers my question, but what I am asking is that if I were to get the computer, and I am logged into my computer email that everything is on. I then login to my Minecraft email on Minecraft.net. So what I am asking is that will I be able reinstall the Minecraft launcher for free since I already had it before onto my original Minecraft account email and that computer email. (Also I am not trying to create a new account I am trying to get into my original account.) If not as you said I would have to download my computer data into a USB or a disk then upload that data into my new computer.
The only limitation is that you can only be playing on one of the machines at a time.

If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
With a custom Launcher like MultiMC it is possible to run more instances with the same account
With the native Launcher it is not possible
It is absolutely possible with the standard launcher!
See screenshot:
The top 2 instances are on servers, the bottom 2 single player.
They all have people or chickens moving around or snow falling and the servers have messages popping up in chat.
I didn't log out and in to another account, I just started Minecraft, resized and placed the window, opened chat so I could move the mouse pointer outside that window and started the launcher again to start another instance.
You get a warning that you already have a game running on the same account and that you can't join the same world or server twice but it lets you run on another world or server.
(Actually you can run the same world twice (in singleplayer) but one of the save files will overwrite the other.)
Thank you all for your information. This was very useful and I am glad there is a good Minecraft community out there to help. I even learned new things about the launcher. Again, thank you.
You can install this game on as many PC's you own as you like, but you're not allowed to give your account away to somebody else as it is against their terms of service, this includes selling your account or actually giving the account away, not just sharing it.
I have Minecraft installed on 2 Windows 10 computers currently,
I don't use them both at the same time of course, I just have the alternative one in case this one breaks down.
You can use it on many launchers too that use the account I'm pretty sure. I've used my account on the MultiMC launcher (the regular launcher it won't work unfortunately, same on the Twitch launcher 'when' it had support for it) (which uses the Mojang account) no problem.
With 2-4 versions of the game across 4 different Minecraft versions (all modded) just to review mods across 1.7.10 to 1.16.4 and had no problems on the same computer. (Even with an average spec computer too, which isn't recommended). Only in Singleplayer though, I don't have server experience so can't say for that.
Using it on a different computer is possible but I've found that you need to login in again on the other computer but there is nothing wrong with having multiple launchers and Minecraft installations on the devices, just that you have the account logged in so it can get the versions downloaded and checked with Mojang's servers.
Got to say some of the other details from prior comments were interesting to learn.

What won't work with the regular launcher?
Running several instances, same or different versions, on the same PC definitely works, see my post 5 posts up.
(Controlling more than one at the exact same time is a different matter but they continue to run and you can quickly switch the controls.)
Strange, I've never been able to run the regular launcher in multiple instances.
I'm running Windows 10 OS.

You can. Once you get Minecraft, you have it forever. It's just the launcher and your save files that don't carry over, but your actual Minecraft account carries over.

You can have as many installations of the game with a single account.
I do it all the time with my two computers.
With your Account (email + passwort) you can play Minecraft everywhere.
Also you can login at Minecraft.net - for downloading the Launcher you don't even need to be logged in
So your purchased Minecraft is bound to your Account data
On another device you have to download the gamefiles again
To save your gamefiles (worlds) from your old PC, go to
%appdata%/.minecraft/
and save all files to another disk or usb stick

The E-Mail/Password is your Account
If you login with your minecraft-Login then the system will know that you owned a minecraft-version already
A Minecraft Account only contains Skin and Playername
Your saves worlds, Resourcepacks and so on always stored locally on a system (not with account)
Okay, so I would be able to reinstall it for free then on the new computer? Unless your talking about logging in on the launcher
Yes
Just download the Launcher and login as before
The only limitation is that you can only be playing on one of the machines at a time.

Are you sure about that?
I can run 2 or more instances on the same computer. (On the same account.)
Even on servers, just not more than one instance on the same world or server.
(And without some kind of trickery I can only control one at a time.)
Just testing.

I also test it and it works - nice to know
