So I've been making videos for about a month and I love it. The dilema is, right now I am playing even amounts of both single player (hardcore) and multiplayer (hypixel skywars). Should I generally stick to one or the other? I enjoy making both of them so much and want to progress in them. I don't know if it is the upload dates (I upload survival on Saturday's and hypixel on Thursday's), but generally I get a lot more views on my multiplayer videos. I'm afraid that after a while, skywars could just get monotonous, but I have a bunch of cool ideas (i.e. making my way through ranked as a newbie) but I'm seeing a lot less interest in my survival. So there are pros and cons to both. Is it okay to do both, or should I "niche" down on just one? I was thinking about uploading 3 days in which I could do survival monday and friday, and multiplayer on wednesday. What do ya think?
Any advice at all would be more than helpful! Thanks in advance!
Hard to say because i'm kind of in the same boat but i would go with one rather then both to focus your audience for more constant views. I watch a lot of Minecraft and so many different channels on Youtube and even i only really watch people play on survival for the community and find it hard to watch different "genres" of Minecraft but that's just what i think hope it helps a little!
I think overall Survival Multiplayer is alot more watchable than single player. Take EthosLab as an example:
End my Story (Multiplayer) got 455k views.
De-codinizer (Singleplayer) got 355k views.
I'd suggest you either find some close friends or a minecraft forum post to start up with survival videos. Hypixel is great too, maybe do Survival Multiplayer and Hypixel? I know this might be a bit too much of a switch, but it's what I'd reccomend.
Thats a good idea, however a) I don't really have many friends interested in survival, they like the hypixel pvp style and I do a lot of hardcore which makes multiplayer difficult (because everyone else usually dies before me) :P. I'll definately keep that in mind though.
Yeah, thats what im figuring out. Its hard, because I just had a really cool idea for a survival video (start in beta 1.0 and make my way to current versions), but what your saying seems to be the common consensus.
End of the day Youtube is a marathon and not a sprint so just think about what you could do for a long time and are enjoying the most because chances are your channel isnt going to take off over night so you want to structure your channel around something that can go for a long time.
That is a great point. I do love both equally... I can definately see singleplayer as being a long-term thing, but I love the short-term challenge of getting good at multiplayer (skywars). I'm leaning on releasing 3 videos a week, 2 survival and 1 multiplayer to reflect that... basically focus on singleplayer. thanks for the advice
yeah Hardcore is really fun once you get the hang of the game and are looking for a challenge plus the steaks are higher so some people are more interested in watching just in case you do die haha but glad i could help i wish you the best of luck!
I would go for both, due to the fact if you only did survival, it would be EXTREMELY boring for viewers. So I would do multiplayer, with a hint of survival and adventure mode.
You can do popular competitive minigames like Skywars or Bedwars. There is potential in growing your audience doing that kind of content, especially if you are exceptionally good at those games.
Survival multiplayer > singleplayer, but that being said, singleplayer survival is still watchable if your personality and content is engaging enough that people can still be drawn towards.
Ultimately, do whichever Minecraft-specific content you enjoy best, it's easy to get burnt out if reception (in terms of views) is not ideal. Don't expect instant success and if any video happens to perform well, just take it as a sign of what kind of content to work towards.
Hey friends! In my experience, you can upload any type of content IF AND ONLY IF you stick to a predictable schedule by type. For instance, I upload a let's play on Mondays and Fridays-- On Wednesdays, I typically upload an analytical/satirical video related to Minecraft. As long as you stay consistent, put in the work, don't take shortcuts, and enjoy yourself-- do what you want to do. If you have any specific questions that I can maybe help with, send me a message.

Hey, I'm PuipinM from Youtube! How's it going? Have a great day
You should do both! Sure, some people only upload Hypixel videos and get really popular (e.g. Technoblade) but they change it up every once in a while, too. Start with whatever is the most fun to you, then go ahead and switch it up a bit. Diversity in content always works well, it keeps people wanting to watch for what thing you upload next. Great question, however!

I would suggest the same as linkzzey. Focus on one and when you start getting comfortable amount of views start experimenting with others.

I prefer Survival First then Go Multiplayer, But if you are skilled Multiplayer Like Bedwars or Skywars Then your should go about that line of field

Definately not skill, but I love the challange of skywars. I think I am with you though, I do like survival (and by this I mean hardcore) more.
