Hey, I was taking a trip down memory lane and went, "Huh, It'd be fun to make a beta 1.2_02 Tuexture Pack.", Needless to say I was really wrong.
The minecraft acount I played on back then was lost like 5 years ago, so I thought I would just replace the default Steve skin with my skin!
Problem is there 2 different reslutions the new skins are 64x64 and older ones are 64x64, as far as I can see theres no way to do this in PhotoShop.
Thats why im asking if any one knows of a converter for this purpose, or if you for some reason want to do it manually for me. Heres my skin https://namemc.com/skin/d64d3525ea4abf7c !
Older versions only used what is now the upper half of the skin texture - you can simply crop the lower half off and it will work (which is what used to happen when you ran older versions until the skin server they used was shut down; presumably it detected the version and sent it a cropped version of a 64x64 skin if it was older than 1.8, which I believe still happens in 1.7.10, which uses the new skin server but still uses the old skin format):
You may want to overlay the outer layer on top of the main layer (merge them together), which can be done with a simple image editor (as long as it supports transparency); note that both arms and legs will use the same texture (referencing the new example shown above, move the parts labeled "RL2, BODY2, and RA2" up to overlay "RL, BODY, RA" (this can be done in one operation as they all have the same layout); if you want the left side arms and legs instead move the appropriate parts from the bottommost row ("LL2, LL, LA, LA2", where 2 is the outer layer), which have to be moved separately since they don't use the same layout as the original).

This is my own skin, which uses the old format:

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Wish I would have seen this earlier, I got a weird tutorial by a (presumably) 8 year old with a scam download link.
But yeah thanks, I probably turn this into a converter anyway.
