Besides caves, what do you think 1.15 should be about?
Most people seem to unanimously want a cave update, and I’m one of said people. However, there’s not really much to say that hasn’t been said before about why we need one, so I wanna hear what ideas you guys have. Personally, there are four main things I want to see: a combat update, a biomes + mob update, a foodstuff update.. and a “synergy” update.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t think the 1.9 combat is really that bad. Is it flawed? Definitely, but my main problem with the update was more the fact that it... wasn’t actually about combat much. Ideally, an update like this should consist mostly of combat related stuff, like new weapons, new enemies to take advantage of new mechanics, etc. Instead, most of the update was devoted to miscellaneous stuff. They were all cool, but they should’ve been saved for later.
One of my favorite innovations of the past few updates are the new mob variants, like the husks and drowned. I find those two in particular flawed, but they’re a really good idea, and I hope we get new variants for each biome. Not just for monsters, but I also really want each biome to have a wide variety of new mobs, like monkeys in jungles, mountain goats, frogs in swamps, etc. While we’re at it, most of the biomes in the game are... rather lacking, particularly badlands and savannas. While I don’t expect Woodland Mansion level structures everywhere, I do hope each biome gets at least some kind of structure, even if it’s something like the desert well.
Food in Minecraft has always felt underwhelming to me. There’s only a handful of things to try, most of which being pretty easy to get, and there’s no real variety. Hell, a lot of people stick to steak and only steak, which should really say a lot about the food in the game. I don’t think there should be a diet system or something, but food should be more varied and do more than just replenish a bar. Give people valid reasons to try to different stuff, and maybe even make a vegan run a more valid option. Also, I really hope they make a cooking block of some kind, using the crafting table never felt right to me.
Last but not least, the synergy update. What do I mean by that? Simple: I want synergy with the spin-offs, like Story Mode, Dungeons, the movie, those novels, etc. I don’t expect Jesse to be an NPC or for the main cast of the movie to replace Steve and Alex, but there’s a lot from at least the first two that could be great for vanilla. Imagine white pumpkins being extremely rare loot, or those key guys from Dungeons being added. I don’t think they should go overboard and make them 100% integral to understanding the game, but adding some more synergy would help both vanilla and the spin-offs.
I agree completely with everything you said, especially the foodstuffs and biomes. A few food ideas I've wanted for ages include Apple Pies, Chocolate Cookies, Sandwiches, and with the addition of bees, they could add some recipes that involve honey, such as Honey Buns or Sweets.
Biome wise it'd be cool if they would spread villages to more boomed such as jungles or ice spikes biomes and having shelters in the top of the ice spikes and in the jungle trees. Or even just trading posts with a special villager (like the Wandering Trader) inside with helpful trades for an adventurer.
There is a few of my ideas I hope to one day be implemented into Minecraft.

I like what they've planned with combat so far...feels like a nice middle ground between 1.8 and 1.9. 1.9 combat is definitely too clunky to keep around so I welcome change
