I really have to do that. My laptop's storage on the C: Drive isn't much left/in default as 30 GB remains. I tried to seek help in reddit and stackexchange. Users in stackexchange barely helped and all i got is being told i got scammed even though i bought minecraft in the offical site.. Anyways, My D: Drive has 2 TB and my dad told me to install everything on D: Drive because my laptop would get slow if storage in C: Drive fills up.
Launcher is installed in D:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher
Minecraft in default is installed in C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
I want minecraft to be installed in D:\Games/Minecraft
I used to use Tlauncher before I bought minecraft which using it, I was able to successfully relocate it using Tlauncher but I don't know how to in the official launcher. I know minecraft usually doesn't use much storage but I take a lot of screenshots and use a lot of mods, shaders/resource packs.
I haven't been able to figure out how to start it from here so close the launcher with the "X" in the upper right corner and restart it.
If you click on the narrow green button with the triangle next to the "Play" button you should be able to select your new profile from the list, it will then show up on the "PLAY" button and pressing that should start it.

There is no easy way I know of, because as far as I'm aware the game is hardcoded to use that folder for some reason.
You can create a symlink to the location you want it, but it's complicated.
I'm not sure about the game itself but saves, screenshots, etc can certainly be put somewhere else.
-- The Launcher can be installed on the D: drive but the position of the game itself seems to be hardcoded as Lonsdale1086 says.
You can either create a new profile and set the Game Directory anywhere you want or copy/move the Saves directory and change the Game Directory.
Even if you create a new profile you can copy your worlds from the old Saves directory to the new one.

Here's the instructions for creating a new profile that I posted in another thread.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you start the launcher,
click on the three horizontal lines to the right of the title so you get "News Skins Settings Launch options" under the title
(If you have an "X" instead of the lines and the options are already under the title then skip this step.)
click on "Launch options" so you get a list of your profiles
click on "(+) Add new" to add a new profile
give it a name and choose the version by clicking on the triangle in the version box, 1.14 should be in the list
I would suggest clicking on the "Game directory" switch so it turns green and changing the name of the directory so it puts worlds in a new folder
Click on "SAVE"
you should now have a new profile that uses 1.14
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't been able to figure out how to start it from here so close the launcher with the "X" in the upper right corner and restart it.
If you click on the narrow green button with the triangle next to the "Play" button you should be able to select your new profile from the list, it will then show up on the "PLAY" button and pressing that should start it.

If you want to switch profile/version just click the triangle next to "PLAY" in the launcher and chose from the list.
Just testing.
