I quit Minecraft about five months ago. This lead me to believe that the game was dying. I love the game to death and I want to enjoy it again so bad.
I've tried survival but that is boring without some friends. I've tried Hypixel but I'm not much of a PvP person. I've tried creative but I'm not inspired.
What do I do? This game was literally my childhood and I haven't ENJOYED it for at least two years.
I need suggestions, because I know for a fact there are so many more things that I haven't tried in this game! I just need some spirit!
I like these mods: Minecraft Comes Alive, Galacticraft, and Mekanism, but since i've left java edition, i miss these mods, i now play on bedrock edition.
I would say if someone lost interest in something they used to enjoy (and is not suffering from something like Depression, because that also can happen) that maybe they could ask theirself what aspects of the game they used to enjoy.
It's difficult for other people to say what will make game interesting or not boring, again, because, honestly, not everyone enjoys the same things in the game.
For example, I'm an old lady and basically a newb and I dislike all combat aspects, but I still have fun playing Minecraft because I personally enjoy the world-building. I like exploring, and exercizing agency in the world, and building roads between villages and making cute houses for monsters to live in.
But that's not why someone else likes the game (I mean, there could be those people, but I know many others have different reasons.)
Some people enjoy challenges like fighting monsters. Some like building bigger and better structures to the point where they construct whole kingdoms. Some like to go spelunking all the time. Some like to walk to the edge of the world. Some like to use redstone or noteblocks to make instruments or computers.
Players need to seek what they like about the game.
And, it's also OK to take breaks or quit. It is a game.

I suppose I could try mods! But I've never been interested in the machinery aspect of modding. I'm more into farming and stuff that's similar to Vanilla Minecraft, but still adds more to the game (a lot more, preferably.)
Either way, though, I'm planning to go back and play older versions that I started Minecraft with.
Please, if you can, recommend some modpacks (or list of mods) that I might enjoy!

It was a while ago, years, but me and my friends were getting bored and decided to install the Feed The Beast mod pack. I'm sure it is remarkably different by now, but I think what made it fun for us was the novelty, the originality, the newness of the gameplay. We had no idea what was going on, and we all agreed to not look up any tutorials online and learn it for ourselves. This made it even more exciting, because you would stumble upon amazing things while playing, and have to figure out how it all works. If you decide to use a modpack, I recommend taking this approach. Do not look up tutorials, just have fun.
And of course, as others have said, other games are cool too.

Since you are more interested in farming, maybe just a few mods such as Pam's Harvestcraft, Agricraft, Cooking for Blockheads, and Forestry. If you want a full modpack (if your PC is beefy enough to handle large modpacks) then take a look at "Regrowth" or "Farming Valley."
Just like what others are saying, you could find some interest in modded Minecraft. However as stated as well you are not inspired. Don't sweat it. You can put the game down for months at a time. That is the good thing about Video Games. For instance I stopped playing COD after Modern Warfare. Just got really tired of the game, the game play and all the negativity while playing multiplayer, however I just picked up WWII and can't put it down.
I would really say just give it some time and you will get back into it again. You could even set up goals of things you want to accomplish, or get inspired by from watching a Video you saw.
I agree with LloydAZ - if your computer can handle the beefier mods, check out Farming Valley.
Or just put it down all together and pick up a new game. Stardew Valley is great, for the avid farmer!

I would recommend that you look through the various mod packs that Feed the Beast and the ATLauncher offer:
Take a break from the game for at least 5 months, when you return to the game you should be more interested in it again. I got bored of minecraft in 2016, I took a half year break from it, and when I returned I was much more into the game.
Also, 100th post!
It's been about 6 months by now. I'll get back into it soon, hopefully.

Have you tried modded Minecraft? There's probably something out there that you would enjoy trying.
It's not a life or death situation if you don't like a game.
Just find something else. That's the cool thing about videogames. There's always something to suit your desires.

Some of these packs de-emphasize machinery and tech and instead offer other Minecraft themes, such as magic, survival, exploration, questing, etc.

Maybe http://www.minecraftmods.com/netherex/ and http://www.minecraftmods.com/ender-compass/ could work a bit.
