The Mirai Botnet Was Part of a College Student Minecraft Scheme
So the botnet that took out the internet was trying to destroy Minecraft servers... Wow.
From what I gathered from the article, they were trying to take out competing MC servers so that they would have an advantage.
Except they also took out services required for any MC server to actually work.
This seems counterintuitive. What was this guy's thought process?
"My Minecraft server needs some popularity. Time to destroy every server!"
