I am quite concerned because with Microsoft prioritizing other platform in terms of development. This could mean Java edition update would be slown, or even stopped. And if other platform were to never exist, then the java version (the version we all love) will still be developed normally.
Bingo. The other versions were there long before Microsoft bought Mojang and they have always been developed by independent teams.

The Java Version will develop faster and is limited only by imagination .
With the Forge and Sponge API , Minecraft has Planes , Trains and Automobiles , Oh My ! .... Detailed Animals and Birds , New Mobs . New improved Mechanics . New Worlds and Dimensions . Dinosaurs . Better Graphics Textures and shaders . All created in a open source community . This is not going away . Today so many ways to play the game , play it the way you want .
All the mods, could be ported to C++ . Look up MineTest .
Java version proves that "Better together" update was a lie. It should have been called the "Microsoft platforms band together" update.
Modders know how to use java, java's probably one of the easiest programming languages to learn which makes the java version of minecraft ideal in this situation.
In fact, Pocket Edition was the most purchased version of Minecraft in 2012, according to numbers released by Mojang last week. Minecraft: Pocket Edition sold over 39.1% of units, or 5,899,727 copies total. This was ahead of Minecraft for Mac/PC, at 27.7%, and the Xbox 360 edition, at 33.2%…
The difference in popularity was even more dramatic on Christmas, where Pocket Edition outsold the Xbox 360 edition by a factor of almost three to one. The PC/Mac version was outsold by four to one.
The popularity of PE and CE simply reflect general trends in gaming, with mobile taking the top spot and PC the lowest:
Mobile is the most lucrative segment, with smartphone and tablet gaming growing 19% year over year to $46.1 billion, claiming 42% of the market. In 2020, mobile gaming will represent just more than half of the total games market. The PC and console game markets will generate $29.4 billion and $33.5 billion in 2017, respectively.
If anything, the fact that JE has continued to sell at a remarkably steady rate is a testament to its staying power:
Revenues for both PC gaming segments are anticipated to drop slightly in the coming year. PC browser revenues have been decreasing since 2015 because of the transition of casual gaming to mobile devices. In 2016, Facebook’s revenues from gaming were at its lowest since 2011, while Zynga’s PC revenues dropped more than 30%. Newzoo expects the segment to generate $4.5 billion in 2017, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3%. Our full-year revenue analysis showed that PC revenues of public companies decreased in both Western and Asian markets last year, while emerging markets had single-digit growth rates. This decrease also has a significant impact on our longer-term forecasts. We now expect downloaded/boxed PC games to reach $24.5 billion in 2019, a significant adjustment downward compared to the $29.0 billion global figure for the PC games market in our January update.
Here is a more up-to-date sales chart for the Java Edition that I found on Reddit (the Wiki has a more outdated chart which includes several other editions):

Did you forget the fact that Better Together Update is coming to Switch edition?
You would think they'd have done this with java version first considering it's probably the largest portion of the minecraft community even now...
Not even close, and it hasn't been since 2013:
As I mentioned before, by the end of 2012 - nearly 5 years ago - Pocket Edition was outselling Java Edition by a factor of four to one, with Java being less than 1 out of 6 sales; JE sales for the year overall were less than a third of all sales and less than the Xbox360 Edition despite the latter only being released in May 2012; of course, now there are more than a dozen different platforms other than PC/Mac:
This is also reflected in the overall sales data Mojang released last year:
The online community does likely reflect Java users more since they are on computers but that is just a small part of the overall community (if you regularly post to these forums, Reddit, or elsewhere you're probably one out of a thousand players; even including all members, most of them inactive or lurkers, it is less than 9% of active players, less than 19% of all Java Edition sales).
I'd be curious to know what the windows 10 vs JE sales are considering a large portion of java edition players is because they don't own a PC that runs windows 10...
Still not comprehending why Windows 10 edition was not made to be backwards compatible like it should be... Though I suppose if I really wanted to I could figure out a way to make it work...

Infinite keks abound. Good luck.
Sleep deprived statements aren't the most well thought out. Woops.
Not sure why there's infinite Keks? You do know Windows can and has always been able to run DOS programs right? they've just made it harder for you to actually run them outside of CMD because they don't want you using older "free" products...

Well this is awkward. I misread your statement horribly.
This is a sign that I should get more sleep lol. Apologies.
I don't see a point to removing things like that in java version if there are no plans to unite java version players with windows 10 or mobile players....
If they are planning to unite them then that's cool.
At least with java version someone is bound to make a mod that restores off hand functionality

The answer is no, simply no.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Did you forget the fact that Better Together Update is coming to Switch edition?
Not sure how that's really relevant unless you're saying Switch will also be able to play with windows 10 and xbox one players...
Well yea, Switch will be able to play with W10 and Xbox.
well I feel cheated
You would think they'd have done this with java version first considering it's probably the largest portion of the minecraft community even now...
No, Minecraft java is developed by a separate team so it will not get less priority

Unfortunately it looks like it will in terms of removing features from Java because Pocket Edition can't handle them.
