I set up a dark room spawner, ilMango's diamond design thing that is very efficient. I know how the redstone works, I can fix anything there if it breaks. My problem is with minecraft mechanics themselves. Whenever it becomes daytime, the grinder stops working. I know that it is not lit up, it is at the correct light level on each platform. You don't need to know which design I'm using, I just want to know why they've stopped and how to fix it. Thanks.
I'll give you a picture, but all I really need to know is a mechanic that would keep mobs from spawning, even in the dark, during daytime. Also this is in a spigot server. The farm works by spawning mobs in on the platforms, and every time the hopper clock makes a rotation it switches which platforms have water and which ones are dry. Mobs then fall into collection where you can kill them by hand.
You would have to light up all caves within the spawning area. When it's daytime, since they can't spawn on the surface, mobs spawn in caves instead, taking away spawns from your grinder.
