So, as you may know, you can change your version of Minecraft. However, I've recently been trying to make a resource pack that tries to recreate the Minecraft Beta, but I have no idea how to get sounds directly from Beta 1.7.3 as the directory is completely different and such. If you know how to get the Beta 1.7.3 sounds, please tell me if you can.
Go to your .minecraft folder, go into versions and copy "1.7.3.jar", then change ".jar" to ".zip" then go to "assets" and then "minecraft" and there should be a folder called "sounds". The sounds may be ".ogg" files meaning that if you want to listen to them you'll have to get a program like "Audacity" that reads ".ogg" files.

I changed .jar to .zip, but I got a bit stumped when you told me to go to assets and then minecraft. Could you go more into detail?
And yeah, the files are ogg, as I said if you want to listen to them you will have to get Audacity or some other program that reads oggs. But you should be able to just copy the sound folder from the texturepack and paste it directly into yours.

Thanks.
download the earlier MC versions or google search for them specifically would be the two easiest ways.

Well, I already have the Beta 1.7.3 version installed through the MC Launcher, so... what now?
The Nostalgia-Craft resource pack has all the old sounds.
That kinda works, but I still want to know how I can get the sounds straight from the Minecraft versions.
You gotta extract them from the resources folder of the version you want.

Just curious, that's all.

Well I checked and I can't find the sounds! I even got 1.7.3 but with no luck, sorry.

I may yet be able to help you! I found a texturepack that, as far as I know, has all the vanilla sounds from 1.6! here's the download link: http://www.minecrafttexturepacks.com/mine-wars/
