I know there is probably a lot of threads centered around this subject, but I felt the need to vent and rant about this subject. You do not understand how hard it was for me to not cover this thread in curse words.
You may have clicked on this wondering what Minecraft Java Edition is. Minecraft Java Edition is Minecraft PC, the real Minecraft. But that is now what Minecraft is being referred to as. Now all of the other lesser versions of Minecraft like mobile, console, and Windows 10 edition is being referred to as just "Minecraft".
When Microsoft first bought Minecraft, we were worried that they would be ruining the game by adding stupid things to the game like guns. But what they are really doing is slowly making Minecraft Java Edition obsolete, so everybody switches to the other versions. The first sign of this was when they started referring to Minecraft as Minecraft Java Edition. The next sign was when they bought out MinecraftEdu and changed it's name to Minecraft: Education Edition.
Now Mojang has started creating crossplay between all the other versions of the game, making it seem more appealing to the game. They are also now making the other versions 4K and creating "The Super Duper Graphics Pack", just the name sound like somebody mentally challenged created it. To sum it up it is payed Sues shaders and Floes HD. The other versions of the game are now simply cash mines for Microsft, payed skins, and resource packs, really?
Now you may be thinking, "I guess I'm fine with switching to Windows 10 Edition". First of all you will have to pay for skins and resource packs (which should be reason enough to hate on it). Second of all, there will be no mods! The other versions of minecraft were made in C++, which is not a language that is even remotely easy to mod. Even if people did figure out how to mod in C++, Microsoft does not like modding and would find ways to prevent people from doing it. Lastly, and not least, because the other versions of Minecraft are made in C++ and not Java, there will be no way to port the worlds you've had for years into the other versions. Your years of hard work will be gone.
You may be in denial, but probably the reason that proves it the most, is that what Microsoft is doing is actually a good business decision (And we all know that the people at Microsoft are just a bunch of money hungry pigs)
Now don't be freaking out, Minecraft Java Edition will never be deleted, that would cause an outrage in the community, which would lead to them losing tons of money. They are simply trying to slowly make Minecraft Java Edition obsolete so that they can stop updating it without to much fuss. This will only be a problem for vanilla player, because they will get sick of playing a never updated game.
Now, what I have been ranting about so far has been pretty depressing, but here is some possible positive outcomes of this happening. There could finally be one stable version of forge. It would turn the entire modding community into the gold mine that 1.7.10 was, but eternally. The modding community would be stronger than ever (It would really be the only reason to continue playing the game).
So to sum it up, the question is not will Microsoft stop updating Minecraft Java Edition, but when. The only thing that would prove that this will never happen is if Microsoft officially announces that they won't (which would never happen). Microsoft has done many sneaky moves like this, such as purposely making Windows incompatible with programs created by their competitors. Or how Microsoft is trying to monopolize the entire pc gaming industry (and probably kill that to).
I am going to wake up in the morning and check this thread, and probably be devastated by all the hate comments xD
