Believe or not but the New 3DS can run Minecraft, the console even has more buttons then the PS Vita and possibly more power that can run this game well in 3D but with one catch: the map size will probably be small.
The console version will have to have code possibly rewritten to work on New 3DS.
The controls will be in my opinion as followed:
Circle Pad - Move
C Stick - Look Around
ZL - Mine
ZR - Place
L - Item change left
R - Item change right
X - Chat
Y - Crafting / Inventory
B - Jump
A - Drop
Start - Pause
Select - Players

My life will be complete if Minecraft on New 3DS comes out!
I was surprised that the 3ds was the only console that didn't hace minecraft. I play it on ps3 at the moment and occasionally on pc. But i would love to have it for my.3ds.
I don't believe the DS line has enough power to support this game, I know for a fact that it doesn't have power comparable to my tablet... I doubt it could run the mobile version of Minecraft.
As big as a fan I am of the 3DS, you won't be able to run Minecraft on that thing without some serious sacrifices to gameplay and level generation. The PS3 and Xbox360 versions are already incredibly limited, and those consoles are a lot more powerful than the 3DS is.
Maybe if they ported a heavily optimized version like Minecraft:PE. But even then it probably will not really be worth the money, especially since you can get Minecraft on the Switch if you want to play it portably.

And if you want to know why am I not going to stop posting about Minecraft New 3DS?
I'm determined to see it on said console and I'll basically do anything no matter how many people say no.
And I will convince everyone that it can happen.
No way you are getting 3D in a MCPE port on the 3DS. 3D consumes a lot of processing power, just fire up Pokemon X and see the framerate difference as you switch from 2D to 3D in a battle.

Your point is still fully valid about 3D consuming more power, but using N3DS clock speed (+l2 cache) in PKMN X has always yielded me great FPS, as opposed to using default speed.

Also, I don't think the control stick makes a good first-person viewpoint controller at all. Then again, I'm used to KB/M when it comes to any FPS controls. Bottom screen would be better for that IMO.
If you want something to hold you over you can try Minicraft, made by Notch ported to the 3DS. It's pretty fun, though it isn't similar to Minecraft in very many ways (besides being originally made by the same guy).

I can't remember, does XY make a black outline on pokemon like S/M? I heard that disabling the outline with NTR improved performance for SM so maybe there's something like that for XY

Sounds nice... Now, if only I had a new 3ds. Nah, I'll just wait for the new 2ds.

I don't have the new one though... :/

Sir Arthur Dayne, The Sword of the Morning.
Amusing what other said, I guess it will be downgraded as Minecraft PI.
I understand that there would be serious sacrifices but It is going to be OK as long as we have the 3D effect and C-stick.
This version of Minecraft may be Solo Player but I'll probably be OK since I've kinda gotten used to playing Terraria on 3DS alone.
Plus, Minecraft Pi can still be ported to New 3DS since the 3DS is stronger than Pi, another thread had a user mention that while wanting the same thing: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/discussion/2692483-minecraft-3ds-please
Well, kind off (and this is my opinion as well)

The New 3DS is 804MHz Quad-Core

The PSvita is actually significantly more powerful than the N3DS (source - warning: may have nsfw language).

Well, that should be enough to run the Pi edition,
and why do I keep posting you may think?
Because I am determined to succeed, especially in the Minecraft Suggestion subreddit.
I will never give up.
Enjoying your coding adventure.
If 3DS can actually work, why MOJANG already released MC Nintendo Switch but still not New 3DS?
MY MODPACK! ~300 MODS! 1.10.2-1.12.2, 1.15.2!
Yo.. You are right! So the thing is, that is a big question, why?
My opinion: They simply didn't know how it could work due to the 3DS limitations.
So how are u gonna make it?

Yeah, what the program they used? I doubt they will use C++ (used for IOS and Console) because you need to know the program they used first.
then how are you supposed to program it if you only know English lang ( you might know Spanish/french)?
My O3DS gets choppy on 3d

It's 4J Studios which would be developing Minecraft on 3DS, and what if the whole 3D effect thing is in the processing power?
DO 4J Studio ever release the game to 3DS?
They haven't. However, I am sure that they could be the ones porting Minecraft to 3DS actually.
