"YOUW POSTWING ON THE MINWECRAFT FWORUKS AND NOT TERRARIA"
well im posting this on the terraria forum after this I will post link soon so that's settled now getting back to the essentials
BUILDING
Well this is a obveous win for minecraft because of the 3D graphics
Minecraft : 1 terraria : 0
Adventure
now this is a tough now a lot of people are yelling at me saying terraria well Minecraft has mods and plugins that anyone can install once you get good at the game same as you can't really beat the old guy until your skilled so That's actually a tie
MINECRAFT :1 TERRARIA :0
Long lasting (I can't really think of a title pretty much what game you can get addicted to longer) now terraria players all have to agree that it takes time to get used to The controls so all you need to do on Minecraft (PC) is click multiplayer and search up a ip and that will bring you to a lot of games (search up mineplex mixed Arcade) and look at a video and that's just a little bit of the games Minecraft has in store for you
Customizing
as I spoke of you can install mods or you can enhance two games in settings with plug-ins or even if you have a server you could play with your friends not on the same Wi to and play with your friends and in some cases you can play with your friends without a server which is always fun
Already minecraft has won and I would like someone try to change that anyone wanna tussle come at me : D
You're comparing Minecraft and Terraria like they're almost identical. They aren't. In fact, they're so vastly unalike it would be like comparing Undertale to Grand Theft Auto. Just because you can place blocks does NOT MEAN they're even similar games. Terraria's focus is on adventure. Killing bosses, getting loot, raiding dungeons, etc. Minecraft is more about building. It's more like a video game engine; the game doesn't matter, it's what you create in the game.
I mean, holy crap, these games aren't even in the same DIMENSION. How can anyone think they're alike?
What is the point of these kinds of threads? It's just like the whole console wars thing. Why do people have to prove to everyone else their likes and taste are superior? Is Minecraft better than Terraia? Who cares? Who can be the judge of that? They are good in their own ways, if people don't already agree with you, they never will. It's all based on opinion, there is no way to "prove" one is objectively better. Especially since these two games are very different, they are hardly comparable.
You can't talk about this without being extremely biased. Debating this is completely pointless. If people like Terriaia better, obviously they enjoy that type of game better, this is not going to convince anyone.

Terraria has just as many mods... Plus you should be comparing the games as vanilla and when it comes to adventure Terraria wins easily
Terraria has just as many mods... Plus you should be comparing the games as vanilla and when it comes to adventure Terraria wins easily
I wouldn't say it has just as many mods.. but that doesn't mean it doesn't have much either. IMO Adventuring in Terraria is a hundred times better than in Minecraft, even with mods.
See, it's rather unwise to openly make this comparison. Lets stand back here. Take into account you're posting on the official Minecraft Forums. As such, there's generally going to be a bias to it. You'd get pretty much the same thing on the Terraria forums, however with lots of toxicity and flaming to follow.
Terraria is more based on adventuring and survival. Combat is a lot of fun, but inventory clutter is a nuisance and it's not quite Multiplayer oriented as MC is. Very atmospheric and creative on it's mobs and weapons.
Minecraft is more building and creative mode based. Survival is in dire need of serious attention. Lacking in weapon variety, atmosphere, fixes, and more Survival oriented content is some of what's keeping MC bogged down in that sector.
I just wanted to keep those two ultra short to prevent writing a book. You'd really only want to make this comparison in an open manner if you're stuck between a rock and a hard place on deciding which of the two games to get. Even then, I'd suggest both for their unmatched content and ability in their respective sectors.
Both games have a strong focus on world building and have a similar sense of progression; they're both rather alike, it's just that terraria is way flashier. You're over-exaggerating their differences.
They feel nothing like each other. They are quite obviously different games with different objectives. That I can even have a preference of one over the other that has nothing to do with block-building or 2D/3D demonstrates this. You're over-simplifying their similarities and ignoring their differences.

BUILDING
Well this is a obveous win for minecraft because of the 3D graphics
Minecraft : 1 terraria : 0
Ok...but... is it? Terraria has WAY, WAY more building materials than minecraft does. And just because the game is 3D doesn't mean its better.
Adventure
now this is a tough now a lot of people are yelling at me saying terraria well Minecraft has mods and plugins that anyone can install once you get good at the game same as you can't really beat the old guy until your skilled so That's actually a tie
MINECRAFT :1 TERRARIA :0
But what do mods and plugins have to do with any of this? This is about adventure? In my opinion, Terraria beats minecraft at this because of the much wider variety of loot and biomes. While minecraft does have more biomes, a lot are quite similar.
Long lasting (I can't really think of a title pretty much what game you can get addicted to longer) now terraria players all have to agree that it takes time to get used to The controls so all you need to do on Minecraft (PC) is click multiplayer and search up a ip and that will bring you to a lot of games (search up mineplex mixed Arcade) and look at a video and that's just a little bit of the games Minecraft has in store for you I'm not even sure what your trying to prove here. Terraria has way simpler controls than minecraft does. I suppose that it doesn't have as many servers, but you don't really prove anything with the 'simplicity', considering that terraria servers aren't very different than minecraft servers.
Customizing
as I spoke of you can install mods or you can enhance two games in settings with plug-ins or even if you have a server you could play with your friends not on the same Wi to and play with your friends and in some cases you can play with your friends without a server which is always funI suppose minecraft wins at that one.

Replies in bold.
Anyways, I don't really think you settled it at all. You touched on about 2 factors here, and you faded away from them to a completely different topic so fast!
Although I'd hate to reply to this thread, the adventure in Minecraft itself is pretty boring. I suspect you have never played Terraria to begin with as it has, in my opinion, the best adventure-based sandbox game I have ever played.
Nope discussion because we are discussing why also people do compare apples to oranges as the best fruit
They don't. The phrase "comparing apples and oranges" literally means the opposite of that. It means that these two things, while similar in some very basic qualities, the ways that they differ are so vast that it isn't fair to compare them because they are so different.
Basically it boils down to both games have some very minor similarities, like that they use lower resolution images as an artistic choice, and both have building and fantasy combat elements. But when you really look at the details of the game they are too different to fairly compare. Plus the whole, you know, fact that it boils down to a subjective PERSONAL preference which means the points you are giving to one game or the other are going to be different for other people.
But because this can only end two ways, either in a flame war or dropping off the front page due to the fact that everyone already got tired of discussing this nearly half a decade ago (has it really been that long?), and because the OP is already saying "Minecraft is better if you disagree come at me". I don't see a reason to keep this open.

Redundant question. It's like comparing Donkey Kong to Super Mario.
Terraria is focused on the adventure, while Minecraft is more about building. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
I said I posted it on terraria forums too

Well, I agree with some of your points. I have played both games a lot, but I prefer Minecraft more, because I like to be creative.
Also, I'm pretty sure this thread should be in the Off Topic section.

Been playing Minecraft for too long.
