This has been puzzling me for some time and well, I figured I might as well ask / discuss here.
So the moment you switch to creative your trusty 2x2 crafting grid disappears and all you're left with is the option of grabbing & placing a crafting table. And quite frankly I don't quite understand why the grid is never included? I can understand that the creative inventory basically gives you access to every block there is, so the crafting requirements are minimal. However, there are plenty of scenarios where it could come in handy. For example when you're trying to get dyed items, leather armor for example. Although you could use commands and specify the NBT tags it can be much easier on you to simply have the option to grab the item and a dye.
Another thing which I'm missing out on is the option to quickly copy maps or flags (especially the latter). I always need to get a crafting table first, then I can do the copying. And that seems way more tedious than needed.
What do you think? Any known reasoning behind this?
Don't know the actual reason, but you're right...there isn't really a reason to not have it. If you go to the Survival Inventory on the bottom right, there is plenty of space to put the 2x2 crafting area. Maybe someone should actually tell Mojang about this inconvenience haha.
