I agree my skin is custom also if you see my icon and I agree how a lot of people use the emo hair skins with the hoodies it just annoys me a lot to be honest right here :/
Wow... that was really good. However I feel that most people that use the cliche emo skins just want to do what everyone else does and think they're cool, but if someone really genuinely likes it, who am I to judge them?
Nice points there, a lot of effort into the post. I agree with most of your points, and true, if you're playing on a smaller SMP server, it's fine if you and your buddies can have fun with skins and all that, but when it comes to those huge minigame servers, it's very abundant, and quite annoying really. If you can't think of an idea other than "emo kid with headphones and hoodie", you're really lacking in originality. Is it BAD if you actually do like skins like that, and that you think they're kinda cool, but you're aware that it's unoriginal? No! You'll probably get judged a bit, but like you said, as long as you're enjoying the game, you can have your skin.
Remember when we made our own skins, as members? We used creativity, and put actual soul into it. Nowadays, any 13-year old can get on some website and get the millionth god damn "emo kid in hoodie" skin. My skin myself was custom-made. There's nothing wrong with using websites like the skindex, minersneedcoolshoes, etc., but I've just wanted to vent out my feeling towards people who use these skins. You see them everywhere. The chickens in the hoodies. The "cookie monster" or "famous youtuber" skins. Either you love 'em or hate 'em.
I'll accept criticism. Bored right now anyway.
You are totally right. Most Minecraft users became stupid enough to follow that pathetical style of the youtuber, or the cool guy. I cannot stand users with names lik "XxDarkAssasinxX", or "TheDiamondBoatTDB". I just cannot stand it.
Well, my skin is something I had custom-crafted for me, based on an old Minecraft mob. It's one I found very cute and I wanted to embody that cuteness in my current Minecraft avatar.
Hence, the Rana skin and Princess_Rana username I switched to, and the fan-art I have as my forum avatar.
I agree... People don't have those skins that stand out. Many are "teen" or "emo" skins, downloaded from the internet. And people sometimes try to make the skins skanky, to attract other players(Trust me, I've seen it). I feel like, making a skin yourself and uploading it to show to the MC universe is under-appreciated. Where are unique skins? I'd love to see the ones that are maybe from mythology, or old movies that you love, y'know?
My skin, is a selchie* (Yes, my IGN is Selchie because it pertains to this myth. I chose this myth to reflect upon my Irish heritage. I did not randomly choose this, it has meaning) , a creature of Irish folklore and myths. I made the skin by hand, and wear it with pride. Not many people still do that. Kudos to the ones who do still do that.
*A selchie, silkie, selkie or roan, is mytholgolic creature from Scottish, Irish and Faroese folklore.
Exerpt from Wikipedia article on selchies:
Male selkies are described as being very handsome in their human form, and having great seductive powers over human women. They typically seek those who are dissatisfied with their life, such as married women waiting for their fishermen husbands. If a woman wishes to make contact with a selkie male, she must shed seven tears into the sea. If a man steals a female selkie's skin she is in his power and is forced to become his wife. Female selkies are said to make excellent wives, but because their true home is the sea, they will often be seen gazing longingly at the ocean. If she finds her skin she will immediately return to her true home, and sometimes to her selkie husband, in the sea. Sometimes, a selkie maiden is taken as a wife by a human man and she has several children by him. In these stories, it is one of her children who discovers her sealskin (often unwitting of its significance) and she soon returns to the sea. The selkie woman usually avoids seeing her human husband again but is sometimes shown visiting her children and playing with them in the waves.

sadly that was the lone exception to a sea of as you call it "skank" and the saddest part, the term is very fitting.... But thats a view on society with a rant for another site... TO TUMBLER!! lol
totally, everyone just uses that emo skin and always wins skin competitions
I know right a lot of people in skin competitions win just with the emo male skin when I tried it I won so I switched back to my custom skin and then I realized that most of the servers i'm on the emo skins win..
I think they are like that just to look cute cause the head has only 64 pixels squared. No offense. All the girl skins I made for people have the 2x2 eyes.

Hi. You're looking at the signature of a user that has pretty much quit Minecraft, but I might still be lurking. You can take a look if you want.
<---- I am 0% of a Minecraft noob. That was luck...

When I'm in a skin comp, I always go in with a custom skin and I always lose to the female skins that everyone gets on Planet MC. It's really annoying.

By the way, nice skin. It's not (too) unoriginal.
