Basically is there any way to enable the bedrock/void fog ? As a map maker we built huge underground structures which implemented the void fog, it was quite epic and scary, but now it just looks basic I'm afraid since you can see at distance.
If anyone out there could take the time to help out an old Minecraft veteran on why Microsoft removed the void fog I would be greatly appreciated.
We have spent quite a while reading numerous threads about this issue trying to activate the void fog and no such luck,
Do what he said, but use a command block to force blindness on the player. The command block can be set to allow infinite blindness.
About the void fog, like you said it was removed by the devs. This was mainly to increase performance. You can still achieve the same effect through blindness though.
Thankyou for the reply I apologize for the late response.
They removed the void fog to increase performance? We have a spare old dual-core pc that could play Minecraft no problem. So there is really no way of retrieving the void fog either by script or mod? Such a shame, wouldn't you agree the atmosphere at bedrock level was quite eerie? Especially with the particle system aswell.
Ok so about using a command block to achieve the effect. ''The command block can be set to allow infinite blindness.'' So am I correct in saying that a command block could implement blindness at bedrock level throughout the entire server?
Yes, you can detect when the player is under a certain y level and apply blindness to them. Ensure you put the command blocks in the spawn chunks so they are always loaded.
So back to the original question if I may, could it be possible to implement the void code back into 1.8.4? Would mean a lot if someone could help us out with this issue.

You could just use blindness

Blindness is really the only way to make any fog-like element within the current version of Minecraft

Some of us are glad they removed void fog. Whenever I was down that far I was usually only mining and I hated the fog. Just saying.
Thanks for the input guys,
