The oldest Minecraft player I have seen is about 64/65 years old.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
I am 52 years old. I play everyday with my daughter. We play the serverers all the time. I am no noob to the game, killed the dragon dozens of times. Now I only play hard core when I open the occasional single player world. I know I am not the oldest, but I must be in the top 10 or 20 oldest. I have also had my head on a few high score walls. Well, see you out there.
I'm nearly 46, but there are many people older than me who play. The game is definitely not 'just for kids' On the realm I play on we have people aged between 15 and mid 50s
But you're gonna get very skewed results in this thread/poll, because you're getting the age of players who feel like talking about the oldest Minecraft player, not a reflection of the average player. The 'average player' is probably a 13 year-old wannabe-hacker who loves trolling, spamclicks in hypixel minigames, and wouldn't dream of using this forum.
From many years experience, I'm guessing the majority are 12-18; a fair number of 8-12, and a fair number of 19-25 or so; outside that it tapers off somewhat. Of course there's a few of us older ones, but I estimate <1% are over 30.
According to Mojang/Microsoft the average player is actually closer to 30, which is far more likely to be accurate than a random poll on some forum:
A New York Times feature about the continued, world-conquering success, of Mojang's game reveals the figure. It adds that "according to Microsoft, the average player is between 28 and 29, and women make up nearly 40% of all players."
I also found a chart on another site that claimed that the average age was 25:
For comparison, the average age of a gamer in general is not much older:
As of 2016, the average age for a video game player is 35,[1] a number slowly increasing as people who were children playing the first arcade, console and home computer games continue playing now on current systems.[2] The gender distribution of gamers is reaching equilibrium, according to a 2016 study showing that 59% of gamers are male and 41% female.,[1]As of 2011 ESA reported that 71% of people age six to forty-nine in the U.S. played video games, with 55% of gamers playing on their phones or mobile devices.[3] The average age of players across the globe is mid to late 20s, and is increasing as older players grow in numbers.
I was born 1950, that makes me 67 (I blame my Grandson for getting me hooked)... and BigAlanM (a moderator) beats me. I'll wager there are others that have been around longer than has he!
According to a reddit poll, 94% are male, 88% from North America, and 0% are under 10. I'm sure we can agree that that's ridiculous, but it illustrates the problems; it says a lot more about the demographics of Reddit than it does about MC.
One issue that I have with that poll is that it was made 6 years ago - it doesn't even mention any release versions for the first question because the game was still in Beta and things have likely changed a lot since then - for example, 65% say that the Adventure Update - Beta 1.8 - was the best update? Why do so many people nowadays complain about how it ruined the terrain, game balance, etc? Also, if you add 6 years to the ages given you'll get a figure closer to what Microsoft claims, and with 55 million playing the game every month (out of a total of 122 million sales) it is likely that a lot of those players are still playing.
Also, another thing I thought was interesting was the average weekly playtime - apparently I play more than 93% of players with a bit over 24 hours per week of playtime on my first world and nearly 27 in a more recent world (only 2% chose 25-29 hours per week and 5% chose more); then again, a poll on these forums had a bunch of people claiming to play upwards of 18 hours per day with an average exceeding my playtime (3-4 hours per day) even when discounting those outliers.
In other words, you can't really trust any poll but "official" sources should be more reliable.

I also a born in 1950, so I claim third-oldest behind you and BigAlanM!
Question: Are you or BigAlanM server owners or might I be the oldest in that category?!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

There was a thread a while back about older people playing minecraft. If I remember correctly the oldest person on there thread was 73.
Just curious, that's all.
Woooow, that's kinda old.
But as they all say, nobody is too old to play Minecraft
