1.) More Commands - Ya, I agree with you. More commands will always be fun! It would allow the redstoners do so much more.
2.) Something That Deletes All Hackers - If I deleted all hackers, people wouldn't say "Hacks" when you didn't hack and then you won't die when you get killed by loads of hackers. ugh hackers...
3.) Name Changing - I've always wanted this. I have the stupidest name ever and I've always wanted to change it. SOO happy that there adding it!
4.) Auto Unban - Ok, lets say you you where banned let a year ago for xraying, hacking, ect. When you did that, you probly where little. I'm banned on some great servers.
5.) More Crafting - I more crafting, the more items, which means the more fun! More fun always equals awesome stuff!
I'd implement a patch to take things back to around 1.3-1.5. Those were the days.
Dude, you do know that you can play those versions by simply going to your profile editor and changing the version you want to play to anything from 1.3 to 1.5, there's really no good reason to force everyone to those "the days" since not everyone wants to play older versions of Minecraft.
First, and most importantly, I would throw a huge party at my multimillion dollar mansion in Hollywood and make sure all the pics get tweeted to everyone! (-sarcasm-)
Second: I'd spend a tiny fraction of what Minecraft makes every day to buy EVERY Minecraft mod in existence then find an ingenious way to add them all to vanilla in a way that would allow users to easily choose which features they want in any particular world and which they don't. This could have been done long ago, even if it required hiring some outside help to do it.
That's a bit oversimplified; I could go on and on in detail if needed but I think the above describes the core concept well enough to be understood. And of course it would be important to provide some great default selections of "mods"/features in the form of various Game Modes etc.

"If you were the head developer of mojang, what are the first 5 things you would implement?"
1- Update the vanilla graphics!
2- Eliminate (redstone) dust to transmit electricity ("Dust"? Really?) and replace it with craftable wire... that doesn't need 'repeaters' to keep the power going.
3- Give zombies a new look, or at least some other clothes- that old look has been around forever.
4- Ditch achievements, potions, and leveling up.
5- Add 'easy crafting' as an option.
1) An easy way to implement mods, plugins, and create servers. Going through all these files really confuses me.
2) More redstone components. People can be more innovative with new components, and make awesome creations.
3) Easier command blocks, instead of typing all these weird patterns and letters and numbers, make it so that it's really easy and the player doesn't need to type anything (unless they want to).
4) A new ore that doesn't add a new tier, and is very useful. Something found in the End
5) A command for changing a player's resource pack. The system checks if a player has a certain pack (each pack is presented with an ID number), and if the player has it, it switches to that pack.
5. Extra minerals and ores (The game IS minecraft, but only has a handful of ores.)
I'd also add a seperate launcher for Servers and their plugin API and the ability to switch versions all the way back to alpha. But I already labeled 5 things.
1. Revert the rendering, etc systems to what they were in 1.6.4, and/or a new more optimized system (but with the added features since then); did you know that the old recommended system requirements called for a GPU that doesn't even come close to the current minimum (they updated them shortly before development on 1.8 started)? 1.7.10+ also gets constant server lag even when standing still unless I reduce render distance to 5 chunks or so, while 1.6.4 uses only a fraction of the allocated tick time; a related issue is that lowering render distance below 10 chunks causes problems with mob spawning in 1.7.4+ (in older versions the internal server always loaded 10 chunks from the player; at the least, either make 10 the minimum loaded chunk distance or better yet rewrite the mob spawning code). This also includes more advanced performance options similar to Optifine, such as controlling how many chunk updates the game does at once; a big cause of lag in 1.8 is too many chunk updates at once (then again, it never gets as high as it does in older versions with no lag).
2. Revert cave and other underground generation to what it was prior to 1.7, plus additional variation, and add sliders in Customized so we can actually customize the size and number of cave systems, their altitude range (there is currently little use in raising the ground level as caves mostly generate well below sea level; you could also reduce their range to reduce surface cave openings, even with more caves overall), sizes of individual caves, etc, as well as every other structure (can you believe that Superflat lets you change how common most structures are, yet Customized only lets you turn them on or off? They can go further as well, such as setting the chances of each type of house; the number of sections and corridors in a mineshaft; and so on). I'd also change the way mineshafts generate so they are spaced apart (currently they can generate in any chunk, even next to other mineshafts) and not in areas with a high concentration of caves, and make the walls of strongholds overwrite air blocks (caves don't (and can't) cut through strongholds, the code just ignores air when placing walls).
3. Improve default terrain generation for more variety, a very popular topic on the forums, this includes increasing height variation (but modifying terrain generation around rivers and beaches so they are actually rivers and beaches most if not all the time), as well as add an option to disable the climate system so biomes generate like they did before 1.7, and the ability to change the size of continents and oceans. Also add new biomes I made and bring back big oak trees (mostly removed in 1.7 because of "lag" - not that they game me lag in older versions, and I found a simple way to prevent leaf decay even with trees larger than vanilla); unreasonably rare biomes like jungles (likely made rarer again due to "lag") are also more common, with every biome having more or less the same frequency (with so many biomes you still have a lot to explore before you find them all).
4. Revert the enchantment and anvil repair back to how it was prior to 1.7, or add an option on world customization (hey, it should customize non-world generation stuff as well, including making mobs harder, disabling health regeneration without cheats (the gamerule would still work as a command), unstackable/Beta-style food/healing, and all that, then there would be less calls to make the game harder; not that I'm for that stuff but making the game as customizable as possible without mods).
5. Last but not least - fix bugs, including some that have fixes posted to the bug tracker yet are ignored; others have obvious causes, such as how the client tries to control boats by itself (horses and minecarts, etc are controlled server-side; a lot of the bugs and glitches like blocks reappearing are due to code running on both the client and server, when it should really run on one - fixing this would also likely increase performance with only one set of code running).

I am aware of this. But, the game was much better in those days. The game had all it needed (plus maybe some things that have been added now, like Mutton) and it only needed an official Modding API (which never happened apparently, even though it was on the cards).

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.
My list-
Cubic chunks
Octoblocks (blocks cut into eights)
more commands
Easier server setup and friends list
TNT arrows
If you give a awesome list you might give me an idea and I might consider changing mine!

Notch's HUGE 2015 house-warming Party! (Oh the humanity!)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I am aware of this. But, the game was much better in those days. The game had all it needed (plus maybe some things that have been added now, like Mutton) and it only needed an official Modding API (which never happened apparently, even though it was on the cards).
1: Probably more half slabs and stairs.. (endstone slabs, obsidian slabs, etc...)
2: maybe better animations for players.. (such as knee bending, elbows, more poses, etc...)
3: More to do in the end.. I find it kinda boring there, dont you agree? XD
4: a better ender dragon.. I find him kinda cheesy..
5: and I'd maybe try to make the hostile mobs a little creepier... like, if creepers could haunt you.. (like the "herobrine")
all your ideas are from mods xD, The More Slabs Mod, Animated Players, Ender Expansion and Hardcore Ender Dragon
2. Optimization that doesn't cause more lag
3. More mapmaker tools
4. Red dragons so the survival players don't get bored and I am praised as the best head developer of minecraft ever
5. Retire and pass development to the co-head-developer of that time
2. Expand on this. What features would you optimise, how, etc.
3. MCEdit is fantastic.
4. No. Minecraft doesn't need more dragons, one already is absurd.
5. We're talking about implementing features, not management changes.
the thread says: if you were the head developer...
