Recently my computer crashed and now is completely stuffed. As it's almost Christmas and me and my wife are going away in the new year I don't want to buy a new PC right now. My wife has a mac so I've been using that for every thing for now. I thought about downloading minecraft the other day when I realised that the mac mouse does not have a right click button. I looked it up and it says something about pushing command as u press the mouse button and that will place blocks and that sort of thing. But my question is does anybody have much experience with Minecraft on a mac? Is it easy to get used to pressing another button with the mouse for right click? Or is it that much of a pain in the butt that I shouldn't even bother downloading it on the mac?
Changing the controls is simple. The real problem with gaming with a Mac mouse like that is that it scrolls at a million miles an hour. You try to scroll over to a different block and you go through your entire hot bat 69000 times, no matter how carefully you try. So you end up having to press the number keys, which isn't quite as convenient In a tight spot
Mac mouses do have a right click button, its just not a separate button, you have to press the left or right side of the mouse knowing there is a difference. and the other thing it differs from windows is that left click does not open a menu like windows mouses do. But if you open minecraft on mac you can easily confirm it. If you click the left side of the mouse you will punch, click the mouse on the right side and it will place blocks.
I have a new mac and thats how it works for me without any configuration changes.
Note: Mac mouses also have a "scroll wheel" which is extremely annoying in minecraft since the wheel is the mouse itself (a la touch-screen) and you will randomly switch items as you play.
All you need is a regular old USB PC mouse to play Minecraft. That's it.
People fail to understand that a Mac is just like any other PC. They think the Apple mouse is ONLY for Mac and Macs will ONLY accept THAT mouse. No, you can plug in ANY mouse, ANY USB mouse and it will work and function just like any other computer. This isn't the old days when Macs used ADB and PCs used PS/2, and you needed to install drivers for every single crap you plug into your computer, and then have to mess with idiotic extensions. This is the 21st century. Everything is plug-and-play now, and we have the USB standard.

True. My mac at work uses a regular PC mouse (and keyboard). OP can just use his PC mouse to play lol. I'll have to get one for my mac at home hmmm...

However, playing with the trackpad is usually difficult no matter what laptop you use, so I'd suggest you use a mouse if you can.
I HATE using a laptop for gaming. I've went to friends houses and see them using a trackpad and I'm like "oh my gosh"!
