I purchased this game a few years back when it was using the old launcher. One of the major appeals to me was the ability to play offline. Recently, due to construction work, I was left without the use of the internet for close to a week. In that time I played minecraft until it crashed and logged me off. Once that happened, I could no longer access or play the product that I have payed for.
So, I am here to officially request the ability to continue to play minecraft without the need to log in be added. This is of course, meant for single player mode. There are obvious issues with trying to play on a multiplier server, with the major one being the lack of internet. So I request that somehow this be looked into. I am other wise completely fine with this game and truely enjoy it. I just want to be able to access what I payed for When I want to regardless of the internet.
This is the wrong place for official requests, http://minecraft.net is Mojangs official Minecraft site.
I doubt they will change their copy protection though, and even if they did you would need an internet connection to download the changed loader.
I think you need to get an internet connection temporarilly so you can log in again.
Once you have logged in once it should continue working online until you change computors or reinstall Minecraft but the crash may have made it lose that information.

What do you mean copy protection? I put this here for a discussion to have other paying customers feedback as well as their ability to access and play the product they purchased being removed from them due to inconveniences or unforeseen circumstances cutting off their ability to get a internet connection. Such as was my case. It is something I feel needs to be discussed because it is ensuring that I cannot use a product that I bought.
Where on that website would I leave such a request as well?
The reason they require you to have logged in from your computor once (as long as things don't get messed up) is to check that you have a valid account and have payed for the game, it's to keep someone from copying the game from a freind and playing it without paying, technically it does nothing to stop people from making copies but it does, at least to some extent, remove the reason for doing so, so I think the term copy protection is valid.
Well, nothing wrong with discussing it here, the Suggestions subforum may be more appropriate but here would work , however you can't blame me for thinking you were trying to make an official request (presumably to Mojang) when that is what you said you were doing.
I don't know where one would make such a request, I would go to the support center and look around there.

Oh it is as well as having a discussion about it. As you said, it does nothing to stop people. Playing on a multiplayer server, I have seen just how little good it does. It upsets and frustrates me that as a paying customer, I have a lesser capability to play my legally purchased game then someone who uses a copy or a cracked client. I feel that that should not be the case.
If you know how to contact mojang about this,I would love to know how. I am sure other paying customers would and are equally upset that they cannot play the game they purchased, but a hacker can without ever buying a thing.
My game did crash within a few days, preventing me from playing all together. This issue is a further concern when in reality, their authentication servers will not be around for ever. If 10 years from now I decide I want to play some minecraft, and their servers are down, I simply would have lost the money I used to purchase the account.
Its not really a suggestion. This is something that should be default. I can play any other game I purchase without an internet connection unless it otherwise states with being purchased "an internet connection is required". They did not have such a statement, yet it is indeed required in order to play if you have not logged in on that computer yet, or if you have but something happened to log you out while you have no internet.
For most people the need to connect after a crash or reinstallation would hopefully be a minor inconvieniance, though not so fun if it happened at the start of a long trip or so.
And you do have a point about what happens when the game is no longer supported, hopefully they would release an unprotected version when that happens, I suppose that would be up to Microsoft now.
You can actually bypass the requirement to log in - it is the launcher, not the game that makes you do so; all you need to do is launch the game with a batch file; in a similar manner, when I test mods in MCP the game is launched without logging in (it even uses a randomized username like "Player123" since none is provided; a resource pack can be used to change the default skin; you only have to actually include the alex/steve.png file as detailed here, it can also be added to or used in combination with an existing resource pack).

Good luck!
Just testing.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
