Server Owners Donations Funds Usage
We like donating to server for more content and more things to do. But when you send the money to the server where dose that money go? We'll you think it goes to pay for running cost and there web hosting. WRONG! Recent study on 5 minecraft servers (The IP's and Name of these servers will not be posted to protect there rights) shows other wise. We choose 5 servers that are popular running at least 60 - 120 players a day.
We choose servers will simular Terms of Service.
- All donations go directly to the server to help it keep running
We found this in 4 - 5 servers in there Terms of Service
We have a graph that shows you 12 months of donation fund usage with all 5 server combined. The results are shocking.
Personal: Items used for them self or any thing they have access to. This could include gifts for others.
Web: Web hosting, Donations, or Advertising.
Server: Running Costs, or Content,
These results are from a custom account manager program we used to monitor there payments for 12 months,
If you have donated to a server before if you want to post what you though happened to your money. Go a head and reply to this thread, no server IP's or links to any offsite or onsite advertisements Please.
Ah... You'd think people were better than this, but I admit I kinda expected this, just not to the extreme extent you've shown... wow thats massive... o.o
So I was justified to call on servers claiming to use '100% of donations to fund server'...
Personally, I've never donated out-of-pocket to any server, but I know many people who have to a multitude of servers.
Most regretted donating eventually anyways.

Well, this is highly unscientific. No sources, no data, nothing but a pi chart that could easily be fake. Not saying it is, or that you are lying, but really, you provide nothing to support your claim.
How did you get this data? Did the server hosts just let you tap in to their system? What popular servers? Telling us does not infringe upon their rights, you are providing statistical information, not reporting the news. This type of thing basically requires you to give us the necessary information so that others can verify for themselves, AKA Peer Review.
Skip the grain of salt and go ahead and dump that sucker in your mouth. No one can honestly trust this information's validity.

We asked the owner can we do a study on the usage of there funds.
We had 40 participants we took the 5 that had identical information and the top donations received.
Please do not reply to this. I don't like counter replies on my threads. It is useless to me.
I don't believe this. First you only used 5 servers to study. 60-120 players isn't popular so that's a mistake, It's really easy to make any pie chart with false information. 3rd it's not a violation of their rights to disclose their names and ip's they should be posted to back up your information and finally how did you get access to this. Because no server owner is going to give you access to their system and from the sound of your post you hacked their payment system which raises legal concerns.

People who run these kinds of servers usually run it just for profit. Not necessarily for fun, but for profit. If there was no profit involved they probably wouldn't bother. They run them as if it is a business, well, IT'S NOT, it's just a hobby. This is what the (new) EULA is for. Servers are for players to play, not to farm them of their money.
Me, when I get donations, I keep what I get for the server (3 months of server bills I keep for the server (Includes website, buycraft, and host)), then I save a little more money for the server just for backups and such, and then the rest I keep.
Say it takes $100/month to host the website, buycraft, and the host, and I get a $500 donation. I allocate $300 to the server, and extra $50-$100 for extra costs to the server like advertising and such, and the rest ($150-$200) I keep for myself.

Who cares what they spend it on.. they are taking the time to run it. And their players are taking the time to play on it, and spend money. As long as the bills are paid, and the server is kept up.. who cares about the excess? People get so zealous over nothing o.o..

I find this data hard to believe. A chart with little to no source information or recognition doesn't help. I could easily create something like this myself and claim it was the same.

I don't care much because I say 'supporting' is giving money or help out. The personal reasons are the owners right?
Also I think you made a mistake: (The IP's and Name of these servers will be be posted to protect their rights). You forgot a 'not' there but I'm sure people will know what you mean.

Also $8 of the donations goto the services they are using and that was taken off this is the raw amount used to buy a products
Here is a list of 5 items they bought for person reasons
- Steam Games (82 Games In total from all 5 owners)
- Steam Wallet Funds ($2801 was spent on this)
- Shipped Goods (Items that were sent to there home)
- Donations to other servers (For Ranks and Items)
- Friends/Family Gifts
We asked the owner can we do a study on the usage of there funds.

Too bad. You can't dictate such things. This is a discussion forums, so expect replies/counter replies.
You still have given us nothing to make this any more valid then if I said I personally asked Steve Jobs if he liked Purple, and he said yes.
