my biggest fear is that they'll make modding "illegal" or something... kind of like their TOS for the xbox...
Doubt it. If anything, I see them getting a proper modding API implemented. Keep in mind that MS has the kind of resources and manpower that Mojang could only dream of. Even though they don't primarily do Java programming, I'd even be willing to bet MS has Java SMEs on hand.
If Notch is smart, he's probably negotiating a few requirements into the purchase for MS (such as keeping the game cross platform, requiring that current EULA be kept in place to protect stuff like modding and such, and agreeing to honor the terms of purchase for Alpha/Beta customers).
for the cape mod issue, capes are the only exclusive thing that players get for going to minecon, if everyone could have a free cape, then i bet most people wouldn't want to go to minecon...
Ok, your probably the only person who doesn't know a thing about minecon. Minecon isn't just for capes, it's actually nothing like that. You get the capes for free, they give them out. First of all, the reason people go to minecon is for updates, meeting youtubers, getting autographs, asking questions, having party's, dancing, having fun, going to places around the world etc. Most people don't even know they are getting a free minecraft cape, they just get it because they want to. Capes are NOT the only exclusive thing in minecon, so you probably have never been to minecon. I went once, and gave my cape away.
Craftaeternails I typed these posts from my phone. And like I said before. You should read my previous post. I'm agreeing that the new EULA is bad. I said that since they are trying to ban servers from becoming pay to win. They should instead just shutdown pay to win servers.
They said that U cant ask money for in game money but U are allowed to ask money for points and then reedem them for in game money .
No they didn't. In fact, they said quite the opposite, stop making up stuff. They specifically said that you cannot sell in game currency for real money. That's actually one of the freaking bullet points in the FAQ for the EULA changes.
May I make a point that the purchase has not been confirmed and it's not very likely that Mojang will sell?
Just before people become very confused.
multiple sources are reporting that the sale will be announced Monday, and many of them are very reputable sources that would not just post idle speculation. Keep your head in the sand all you want, but this is happening.
Why are some people butt hurt about this? All this does is benefit the consumers (us) so that servers like Woodycraft (just to name one) don't scam money out of us and make the game pay to win. Honestly best thing to ever happen to this game.

Greed? All this does in benefit us, it's the least greedy thing Mojang could have done. I have a feeling the butt hurt ones are the ones that have already brought stuff on the servers.
you cannot put spaces between words or something?
You could just leave the server if it's p2w. Not difficult. Your point, and all other's points that are similar yours are completely invalid.
Well, there goes the neighborhood. I sure hope microsoft doesn't change much in the way minecraft operates. This is very worrying and agitating.

I have a Question, As server owners know that you can't have hard money on servers so I came up with a amazing idea ,
They can ask for hard money on there website a.k.a pay for website points for in game money !
Note that Microsoft hasn't bought Minecraft, they've offered. It's doubtful Mojang will sell, given past actions.
This is not legal under the EULA.
Selling is selling, whether the shop GUI operates through the server or through a website.

I believe I read somewhere that it was notch who actually initated this whole deal with Microsoft. Could be wrong though
Minecraft accounts are not hooked to a Dedicated Server, only to the client using to play minecraft, and what I I don't have an account? LOL
microsoft might do that...

Don't worry, the EULA will probably change soon after the MS purchase to something more specific, long, and in smaller font
