So, I have been playing minecraft on and off for quite some time, and I love the game.
I go through, clear out some dungeons, play with mods, play vanilla, and just plain mess around in the game.
It is fun, and always will be, there is just one thing that bothers me about it...
It's too quiet.
I do like the music that plays every so often when you are just sitting there with the menu open, or looking through your inventory/crafting and what have you. I love having the cave sounds when you are mining and so on, but it's quiet most of the time.
Is it just me that finds minecraft is too quiet?
Has anyone else found minecraft to be too quiet?
If so, how do you remedy it? I can't find any mods that add sounds and music to the game, or can find any music that goes well with minecraft.
It's possible to add more music into Minecraft without mods, just follow these steps: [windows only]
Go to the start menu
Type in Run
Click "Run"
Type in %appdata%
Click ".minecraft"
Click "resources"
Click "newmusic"
Then drag your music file(s) into there [I strongly recommend that it is an .ogg file]
Tada! Your music is in Minecraft. If you don't hear your music try clicking "music" instead of "newmusic". You will have to listen carefully a lot of times though, since the music playing formula is completely random.
I always think it's annoyingly quiet. If I'm just sitting there for a long time mining I honestly get annoyed by the what... maybe 3 different variations in block breaking sounds. If you think about it there honestly aren't that many sounds to Minecraft.

The system works differently now and is not as simple. And even if it still used this old system, the files would be overwritten when starting up, if you're connected to the internet.
There's a mod called MAtmos which adds new sounds, unfortunately I believe it is only 1.7.2 (correct me if I'm wrong).
That version is a demo, however because of 1.7 the whole mod broke and is basically being rebuilt. If you want more sounds add some or listen to the radio while playing. OR you could just downgrade to a version where matmos works.
It's funny how someone brings them up. I always had the same opinion, but at the same time, I can't imagine Minecraft being...not quiet. It's not really a game with too much hype or anything that needs hype music.

Ah, ok. I had a feeling my theory would prove to be wrong.
But what if you get rid of one file that's called "nuance1.ogg", drag an .ogg file in there, and name it "nuance1.ogg"? Would it still be overwritten?
I like it when it's quiet. It gives me a silence from my real life. less chaotic. Unless I'm on a server. Then all I hear are the footsteps of other players. If i think it's too quiet, I play Spotify in the background.

Thanks for all the suggestions as to what to add/do.
However, I have issues running Pandora, or Jango, or YouTube in the background. It tends to lag my computer for some unknown reason.
Also, I only currently have my phone for Internet, so I do have spotty Internet.
For the one who suggested iTunes, no thanks. I prefer non apple products, and would rather just play my CDs.
I may check out Matmos though. It does seem interesting. The music in Minecraft is calming, and it's not disengaging from the game. I just wish regular Minecraft had more variety to ambiance. It's just too quiet when your sitting there and mining, until you break into a cave full of zombies then all you hear is all the clicking.

My fan fiction of the game: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1957118-programmer-my-first-fan-fiction/#entry24096758

You can just call me Canary.
How not to look like a total fool in the forum games
I actually can't stand Minecraft's music and such so I usually play in silence;
