Alright, so I'm playing with Buildcraft, Thermal Expansion, and Minefactory Reloaded, and I'm trying to set up a system that sends crops from the Harvester(MR) to both my Planters(MR) and a Biogenerator(MR) that I've got fueling some Compression Engines(TE). That in itself is easy enough, but I'm really wanting to split the harvested crops equally among the two sets, and that's what I can't figure out. I've tried using Emerald Pipes(BC), hoping that the "round robin" function applied to items just passing through them, and not just to items that it extracts- it doesn't. It throws things randomly between whatever other pipes it's attached to.
Next I tried putting up two Diamond Pipes(BC), one setting things to go one way and the other setting them to go another, and then using Pipe Gates(BC) to send a Redstone signal to a T-Flip setup to push a pair of Pistons, pushing the Pipes back and forth- until I realized that Pistons can't push Pipes.
When I realized that Iron Pipes(BC)- which act as valves, closing up some paths so items or liquids can only flow in one direction- can be toggled using a Redstone signal, I tried sending a signal to one from a Pipe Gate every time an item went through it. But I found that it toggles both when a Redstone signal comes on, and when it goes off, making it toggle twice each time an item went through the Gated Pipe. This led to the Iron Pipe sending half the items back the way they came, and letting the other half through to only one side.
At this point I'm stuck on what to do. I either screw the whole thing up or just let it be random, but I can't seem to manage equally sorting my crops between two machines. Is there anyone out there who can figure something out?
Also, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I scrolled through it and this seemed to me the one that fit best.
And here we reach the incredibly sad part of our little tale, where, while I was trying out a complicated setup with a Programmable Rednet Controller from MFR this helpful person above me informs me that, apparently, TE's Itemducts have a round-robin function built in.... Which I didn't know.
Thanks, Rakanoth. That helps a lot. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sit in a corner and repeatedly bash my head into a wall for my own ignorance.
