that depends on what they finnaly do with the release. if its possible then yes, people will build them. myself included. to me its not so much about a bug as it is about time vested. it probaly takes me 4 to 6 hours to build my standard golem farm that yields about 2 stacks an hour. in that time i could have easily harvested that much iron, and probaly much more, including other usefull raw materials.
to me if this is being done to get rid of iron farms, i would have rather they just lower the drop rate to say 1 or 2 bars a golem. when i play, i like to build things, not so much spend time in a cave or making tunnels, even though time spent would be more economical to do things that way.

That would cripple the farms like yours and mine, to the point of ineffectiveness, while merely cutting down the "monster" farms from 1700+/hr to like "only" 3 or 400/hr. Instead, they fixed the bug that allowed those "monster" iron farms in the first place, without affecting the "normal" type at all.
From what Docm77 said, his farm will still work. The iron foundry, if built before you run 1.8 will still work. Just don't break or place any doors because you will not be able to rebuild it. Iron trench, you will have to use the nether portal trick used on the foundry to make it work in 1.8

For now, anyway. We don't know what else will change before the final release. The underlying issue is that overlapping villages do not become merged like they should; maybe the devs will find a way to fix that, as well. For now, all they've done is to prevent any such overlapping from occurring in the future, but it doesn't address existing ones that are already overlapped.

Yeah, but... You'd still have to build it in the spawn chunks, and if you have access to the spawn chunks then the Foundry is faster, better, and cheaper than the Trench in every way. The only reason to build a Trench over a Foundry is if you can't build in the spawn chunks, in which case you're going to be out of luck any way you look at it.

I hear you. I personally use Doc's/Panda's farm. I have more than enough iron. ImpulseSV talked about the foundry and trench in his live stream
I was wondering because I'm thinking about making a iron golem farm after the update
Been playing Minecraft for too long.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.

Iron farms that don't rely on a bug should still work in 1.8, so if you want free iron for no effort, go for it.
