I'm working on a PvP map and I want to create a spectator platform above the map for those who die.
My trouble is: with the change to adventure mode, players can now break glass, so I can't make it out of glass. And it appears, after some testing, that ice, carpet, and stained glass are also breakable in adventure mode.
The only other transparent blocks are either breakable or block just enough light (leaves) to make the arena dark after about 15 blocks from the edge.
I even tried making the platform out of sponges and making sponge invisible in my resource pack, but as expected, it still blocks the light even if I can't see it.
Any ideas for this? I really really hate this change to adventure mode. Or am I going about this the wrong way and there's a way to stop players from breaking blocks using a command I don't know about??
Help!

Monkey Mines is a small 18+ Whitelisted Realms server that also allows families. We're currently looking for new players if they're not jerks.
Before I can help you, when you made the sponge texture 'transparent', did you use paint.NET or something equivalent?
If not, use a program like that and use A PROPER ERASER, because some painting programs may not offer a transparent (ie. Looks like white and gray checkers) eraser, and as a result, make the erased area white instead of transparent.
If you have, there's not much you can do about it. Ask someone else if so.

You can give the dead people mining fatigue level 80 so that they can't break any blocks.
Set up a bunch of command blocks to spam glass placement in the desired shape of your spectator platform. This will ensure that, even if a glass block is removed, a replacement glass block will appear immediately.
Put your spectators on the spectator platform.
???
Profit.
That will require a lot of command blocks and will guarantee lag.
MrNonExistent: I did it in Photoshop so I'm sure it was transparent. Unfortunately the game doesn't see it as transparent, only the players client. Would have been the perfect solution though, right?
Aedx: I'm LOVING the setblock command, but I'm talking about a platform that is literally more than 1000x1000 and I'm trying not to have any clocks running anyway. Great idea if I was only looking for a small area, but I'm trying to cover the entire thing.
Zaberz; That is PERFECT! I just tried it out in my test world and it does EXACTLY what I need! I never even heard of that even though I've already been adding potion effects with command blocks. I guess I only looked for the effects I already knew and never read down the list...
Thanks guys!

looks like it will work perfectly!!

What happens if you make a cage entirely out of fences?
That does work, but it's hard to see through. I hadn't thought of that though, good workaround! The Mining Fatigue seems to be working perfectly though!
