people who do not think minecraft is scary. when minecraft was in the alpha stage and beta the game was kinda creepy on some levels. ya i know its no horror game but playing minecraft in alpha at night alone was kinda creepy. back then there was only you as the player no pets no villagers no golems no horses the game felt lonely. those were the good days of minecraft but now i believe the game is made easier for the kid fanbase that plays it.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed
Minecraft is one of the reasons I don't play single player games as often, lol. Halo 2 is the other one, elites would stalk you while cloaked and pop out of no where and try 'n kill you.
i know what you mean bro playing minecraft alone is way scary then muti but muti is alot more fun

It's not so scary now, when you can get full max level enchanted diamond gear with full supply of splash potions and take down nearly anything in one hit.
Minecraft has become more annoying for me than scary.
And I owe that mostly to the bats(Thank God for Mob Spawn Controls. Thanks to that, I removed them completely.), but even more than that to the buffed zombies.
Why yes, Mojang, it's very nice when I'm taking a walk at night, and before I know it, I'm getting gang-banged by zombies.
I'm trying to reach and kill an Enderman, and I have to go through the entire zombie cast of the Resident Evil film series.
The baby zombies are even better.
They run at you like they have stuffed 20 syringes of adrenaline up their @$$, and they are actually just as tough as normal zombies, AND they don't burn in sunlight.(How does this make sense?WTF where they thinking?)
The most scary things so far were a few jump scares.
1. Thanks to a mod, I have a weapon with an ability that allows you to harvest heads from the mobs.
I was hunting during the night.
I must have spaced out for a moment, because I was suddenly surrounded by an army.....eehhm...I mean, a few zombies and some other mobs including a creeper who almost exploded in my face.
I started mashing the attack button to kill everything as quickly as possible.
I kill the creeper, and then turn around to kill a zombie who had the nerve to attack me from behind.
I turn around again and then
"OMGHOLYCR@PROFLMAOWTFGGQQBB!!!!!"
2. A Creeper riding a spider coming at me directly.
3. A Skeleton attacking me with a bow enchanted with Punch (and I think Power too).
I was fighting other mobs at the same time, mainly because the Skeleton was knocking me into them.
I was on Normal, with Diamond armor, and yet I still almost died.
Dude. The idea about minecraft gets scarier as it goes on. There are now scarier mobs like Witches, Withers and Wither skeletons, the triple Ws. and also, spiders can now spawn with potion effects, and witches now spawn everywere (not just witch huts now!!). With every update minecraft's big bad monsters get badder and badder, were are only resort will probably stay the same, diamonds and iron golems are are best hope. And in 2.0 furnaces now explode at random, and chickens are now hostile!!! just think about wait will happen...however i am not talking about mods, however those are fun!

I am gonna go against the grain and say minecraft is quite scary. It isn't blood and gore that makes me freak out, its things jumping out at me, and minecraft has a lot of things jumping out.

Ehhh... They could add some more scarier mobs for sure... I know minecraft is kind of a PG type of game, but it would be cool to be walking in a cave and have some creepy thing walking on all fours that can move really quick and make like 1x1 tunnels or something and stalk the player... Throw in some creepy sound files and animations for it and it would be pretty solid. BUT like I said, Younger kids DO play the game so its kind of hard to make it scary for "thrill seeker" gamers like myself.

Minecraft used to be scary when I had no knowledge of the game. I was stuck in my cave-house with an overkill amount of torches at night because I didn't know how zombies/creepers/skeleton mobs spawns work. You can say that I expected them to spawn right next to me without any light. So yeah, I guess once you get used to the game and know almost everything about it now, there wouldn't be much to be scared of. Although their are still the occasional face to face creeper explosions that make you jump.
There is nothing scary in Minecraft itself. It's just a peaceful game with minimalistic graphics...
However, the only thing that can scare me is suddenness. Sometimes creepers and ghasts can be very unexpected. But things like this can happen to everyone in the most of first person games.
In my opinion, I wouldn't call MineCraft "scary". I would just say it's frightening at some times. I don't know if anyone else plays like this, but my favorite gamemode is Survival on Hard difficulty. The Nether can be a little "frightening" at some times, but rarely. The End is on a higher level of "frightening" though. I'm sitting up at my desk for like 10 minutes deciding whether I should jump off and attack the EnderDragon or keep firing Arrows at it. I can see how you find the game scary when Mining. I mine a lot so I am very used to it, I guess it is just something you have to train for.

Minecraft is scary, since it's scary how such a game got to here, and how the mod API still hasn't come out even though others have easily modded it in the game.
But the last time I remember playing it, I remember that caves do make my heart rate go up involuntarily.
