So I built a cave spider farm and I wanted to do something new other then piston smashing them to death. I have a water system where all the water in the cavern leads to a hole in the floor, I tested my design out in creative and it works exactly how I wanted it to. I go to survival and it doesn't because of one reason: The spiders on creative were passive while the spiders on survival could are not and can amazinginly see me even though i'm pretty far from them, they can also fight the water current when aggressive so is there a way I can have the water current effect them better or make them passive? I'm playing on xbox version if that matters.
Nope, spiders are supernatural freaks on the Xbox, and the spawners work only when you're within their target range.
There's not really much you can do since they're going to be continually targeting you and fighting the current.
The only real thing I can think of is stand where you want them to go...
The best way i know how is for you to stand in the direction that you want them to go.
Do not have them drop down a hole as they will always try and climb up.
There are some good tutorials on youtube such as this one
Dont have to copy it exactly but shows you some ways to combat the issues you are having.
you could do what I have done in the past and dig a 8 x 8 hole below the spawner and just let the spiders die of fall damage.
Then run and collect the drops.
I read somewhere that spiders cant see through portal blocks or vines, is that true? and if so then if I made my ceiling out of vines or a bunch of portals does that mean they wouldn't be able to see me?
No that wouldn't work, the only thing I can do is stand in front of the hole really close which doesn't work to well cause they can attack me through the opening I left. I tried putting ice on the floor and that didn't stop their movements. Then I tried soul sand to slow them down but the funny thing is that they actually seemed to get a better grip on the soul sand which helped them fight the current better. I'm really trying to think of something I can do that wont cause me to have to start all over. I think this farm would give me more exp. then the zombie farm I made cause there's 2 spawners. Zombies were so much easier to work with and they even give me the occasional iron drop. Too bad spiders don't drop anything that neat, but spider eyes are good for making potions of harming.
Well I found a solution that makes me satisfied, I'll probally only go there when I need sting or spider eyes though cause its pretty far from my main house and my zombie exp farm is literally right under my main house. But it was a nice challenge and I'll tinker with it when I get more patience with it and come up with an idea.
