Okay, I know a lot of people like myself are enjoying Minecraft, however, SO many people are addicted to it, and have been playing it for years. This happens with other games, but with Minecraft, people get addicted for so much longer. But the question is, will they ever get sick of it. Just think about it. One day Minecraft just, get's old, as in, not so popular. I mean people would still play it, but a lot less people. Or the legacy of Minecraft just lives on forever as more updates make the game have a super long lasting appeal. Going even further, will the game keep getting updated, but, the updates get worse and worse???? Tell me!
I think the main way people are going to stop playing Minecraft is if there's a major update that completely changes everything. I've been playing Minecraft for years, and I've only been bored for a small period of time, not forever.
Take it from someone who has been playing on smp servers since way back when, the game gets old. It's more a matter of the community decaying from all the cool and creative people you once knew to a bunch of kids and the few people still using minecraft as a medium to display their artistic or coding talents than it is a matter of the game itself getting old. Sure the game can get boring in single player, but when you play online you get a whole new dynamic, building and creating for others instead of yourself. You just can't get that in public servers anymore because everyone is either a complete idiot who is a pain to be around, the kind of person who builds and builds and builds without contact with anyone else, or the kind of person who goes to private servers with people like them. Personally, i'd say the game is tired and has been for a few years now, potential has been wasted and mojang just isn't as original as they used to be. I feel sad to say it, but I really would say the game is basically on the verge dying at this point.
it ends in craft starCRAFT world of war CRAFT are still around why not minecraft so id say about ehhh 5 years from now by that time we have blackops 7 (the day that happens is the day i blow a fuse)
Like every game I've ever played, you can go in and out with it. I might go for months without playing Minecraft and then come back to it for a while. Heck I picked up my old gameboy color and played a few hours of pokemon yellow the other day. Games can get old, but sometimes a break is the only thing you need.
Idk. For me MC has some amazing appeal. As a redstone user the day minecraft will die out for me is when morse's law activates for minecraft. (No new MC circuit optimizations)
Of course it will get old. There'll likely be something better than Minecraft that'll grab more attention and keep players playing for longer, but seeing as Mojang make millions of dollars they could probably be the ones who make that better game.
If Black Ops is still in existence, so will Minecraft be. Thats why Minecraft still receives updates, to make the fun last longer. Even Alpha was fun, but its old now. You could still say its fun, or old, but in 50yrs, will you forget?

same here i haven't been playing it that much latley
The difference between MC and all other games is the freedom.

Id think as long as mojang keeps pumping out updates that aren't bad, it would be great.
Between survival, creative, redstoning, and mods/plugins id say minecraft still could go on for 10 more years.
Of course, the community behind minecraft will eventually fade though with the size it currently is I doubt we'll ever see it completely disappear especially since community members host their own servers and with all the mods available.
To be honest I'm surprised minecraft has kept up with all these new updates for so long, eventually though I'm sure mojang will want to shift their focus onto some of their newer games.
It sure will, but the more updates that are released, the longer it will take. If it can last long enough to pass on to the next generation, then it will be living for quite a while. Minecraft has a vast enough playerbase to support that, but let's live in the now and let the future play itself out.
Minecraft will eventually get boring for anyone who plays it because even if there are endless possibilities for what you could do, it's still always going to use the same basic mechanics. Even if you choose to install a hundred different mods, it won't change the fact that it's still a game that will have you gathering resources and building bases. However because Minecraft is a game with seemingly-endless fanmade content, I expect it to keep a fairly large fanbase for at least another 5 years or so.
Nothing is immune to time, however Minecraft for me is a game that I will enjoy for the longest.
Because trust me in that if you have ever been addicted to pokemon games then you'll easily get addicted to MC for a long time. It took me forever to completely stop playing pokemon games all the time.
It really depends on Mojang, I think. Ultimately, as long as they keep an inflow of new and interesting content that keeps the community growing, expanding, and interested, the game could evolve indefinitely -- just look at other franchises in gaming that have grown so exponentially with time. The question is, ultimately, are they talented enough to do that?

These are my thoughts about it too. Even mods will add longevity long after Mojang stops updating minecraft.
