I placed a minecart and I was not able to get out once I got in. I was in creative and I tried holding an item and not holding an item. It wouldn't let's break the cart only what was under it

Left Shift is the new dismount key for anything ridable. That includes boats, horses, pigs, and of course minecarts. I think it even says it above your hotbar "Press LSHIFT to dismount"
