I was building in creative mode on a map. The only mod I had was pixelmon. When I finished building I turned around to see that there was a hole that had ruined two other buildings I had. When I try to go into the hole I appear near what I think was the spawn originally. I had set my own spawn in a house farther away. When going across the hole it is dark and i cant place blocks. I am confused and I don't want to remake the buildings.
I did earlier that day, try to make a multiplayer server with that world that I could use. I don't know if this has something to do with it though.
Might that hole just be a chunk error? If it is, logging out and logging back in should cause the hole to disappear, returning everything to as they should be and resolving the problem.
Yeah I agree, it could just be a world hole or a chunk error if you'd like.
You can tell if the chunk is corrupted or just not loading by making the blocks update. Just try to place a torch on the ground at the edge of the hole, the lighting update should make some of the blocks in the hole appear, then place a torch on one of those and more should appear.
(TNT also works really well but isn't too good for your buildings, lol)
If it doesn't work then the chunk is corrupted and your going to have to delete it with MCEdit and let it regenerate back to the way you first found it when you go back near it again.

I will try that as soon as I can. But one question about the mcedit part, would I need to delete it all the way past bedrock?
Open MCEdit and switch to from chunk view to camera view so that your looking down on a large area of your world, select the chunk by clicking on it then hit delete in the left sidebar menu that appears. That is it, it deletes the entire chunk from y=0 up to 255...
The chunk will regenerate exactly the way you first found it as soon as you start the game and get within render distance of it again.

I was using mcedit and i found that where the hole was in singleplayer, there was a mountain type terrain with trees. Is this supposed to be there?Thank you everyone who replied! It really helped!! Even though part of the buildings were destroyed I am okay with having to fix them. Thank you!!

Check the area around that chunk. If the area is vastly different (elevation-wise), then the map itself is outdated, and new world generation algorithms have changed the seed.

Sometimes random things do happen but just wait and see.
