Its true it can be ignored. saddles don't explode. if you want to go dredging in dungeons then do so, it doesn't mean the rest of everyone should. The game should be about more options not stuck in the mud game play. Why would you even care unless you are going to craft a saddle? is not going to effect your game if you play like always, your point is ridicules.
IT is about options because you can alter it WITH mods. Also while you're mining you could probably stumble into a dungeon too. Unless you're going to say that minerals should be craftable...
Of course it won't destroy the whole game, the point being is that
* The Development team of MC (Jeb, Dinnerbone, Grum, etc.) decided that crafting saddles should not happen because they said making saddles exclusive to dungeons would boost exploration.
* (I'm not sure on this point but from what I observe it's majority say no recipe) The majority of the community don't think that a crafting recipe is needed for saddles. This indicates to the devs that they probably shouldn't make saddles craftable.
* Saddles being hard to get is part of survival. Horses are a very good source of transportation in game so it shouldn't be so easy to get. That being said, saddles are somewhat common in dungeons.
*Your point of having a crafting recipe because you disabled generated structures if invalid because you have limited your gameplay by doing that. Meaning you aren't entitled to get something you disabled.
*What is so wrong with using mods or creative to get what you want just because you won't put the effort as intended? Mojang shouldn't have to add every bit of accommodation.
How about we end this debate my agreeing to disagree. It's obvious that neither of us can convince each other that their opinion is more valid than the other. I would never quit minecraft over something like saddles being craftable.
If you agree to stop debating (as in stop debating with you) then I will too.
But what if i choose NOT to explore? Then i am limited in game play right? So is everyone else, if do as i do as well. As stated you can choose not to craft one and go explore anyways. The exploration argument really is a mute one at best. this game can be played in so many ways. it doesn't have to be played to "End Game". if you do that's your choice and that's cool.

If you don't then you don't that is why I said you can use mods or cheats (give command) to tune the game to what you want it to be.
The main problem with adding a recipe is that Jebs and his development team currently don't think there should be a recipe, meaning that they won't change it. So that is why using mods/cheats/creative/villagers is what YOU can do to solve your issue.
Making it hard to craft would still be good. Making it still more better to search dungeons while giving people who don't an option that's balanced.

Well again you are ignoring my initial post. Typing in bold doesn't make what you are saying or trying to say any more credible. Saddles was not a mod. Seems idiotic to have to add something that was in the game already. turning it back on would not be much coding.

Most people will choose to explore, and the game was meant to be played with exploration. One thing about your argument that is missing is that you need to explore to find horses, and you (surprisingly) haven't complained about that yet. You're so butthurt about saddles that you are just forgetting that to get horses at all you need to explore. Just drop it, decan. You're argument started out bad and now it's just getting worse and worse.

If you mean initial post as in the one I just responded to before this one then no I read it and responded. Typing in bold is meant to make my pov easier to identify.
I don't think you clearly read what I said or maybe you're disregarding it. The development team most likely has no intention of adding a crafting recipe. So you can use a mod to make a crafting recipe.

Well decan I must say you're putting good effort into your argument but it's just flawed and dogmatic.

There are horses everywhere in the games i play. no i wil not be quiet. my argument is valid. your argument is "game was meant to be played with exploration" which it true to an extent. But its called MINECRAFT for a reason. my argument is valid.

LOL what is flawed about YOU just playing the game like you normally do with the saddles turned on. its not effecting your game. DON'T CRAFT saddles. get it! The recipe is in the game already. its just turned off just like infinite lava.
Okay you know what. You seem like a really young dude. I mean just the way you type and your last post just gives it away. I'm probably gonna leave now because I can't take your arguments seriously anymore. I'm 15 btw how old are you?
Also "Minecraft" has "mine" in it and you have to "mine" to get into dungeons.
I think saddles should remain uncraftable. Maybe if this was before the horse update I would agree to an extent, but now with the addition of horses I feel this option should remain unavailable to the vanilla Minecraft. Point being, horses and donkeys are very powerful mobs. They provide so much utility to the player, much more so than pigs ever could. Gathering and taming a horse should be one of the more rewarding experiences in Minecraft in both actually receiving a reward and psychological one. If saddles were easily craftable like they were during the snapshots then I feel horses would just be an overpowered mob all around. Fast speed, very durable, very mobile, storage, easily controllable, and combat while riding makes horses already one of the more powerful mobs. Making them easy to gather their power I feel would just break the game. No, saddles should remain uncraftable.

Now here you go with the "you're a kid and immature" so what your saying is invalid card. You're assuming and you recall what they say about those who assume? It makes an a** out of you every-time. Don't pretend to be smarter, to know me, to know more than me, to insult me for grammar or typos. Its obvious you cant debate a valid point. so we are left to agreeing to disagree and let sleeping dogs (horses) lay where they will.
Oh and you have to MINE to Craft too......you can MINE without dungeons, but you don't need dungeons to craft.

If everything had a crafting recipe, and you had crafted EVERYTHING in the game, now what, whats the fun in that, but most of the responders cant get that through your head. Oh, and you need a crafting table to be able to mine. So you have to craft to mine.

It's because they added horses that they need to allow crafting saddles. Horses were a great edition. I played with the simply horses edition a few times. Saddles in the game will not DESTROY the game. That's a bad rebuttal and a myth. You can still play the game the way you wish with saddles on. The solution is just this... "DON'T CRAFT A SADDLE" having it on doesn't mean you have to use it. This is common sense. I can tame horses but cant ride them (unless I go dungeon hunting or village breeding) ridicules, idiotic and pathetic.

Are you calling me idiotic and pathetic? Huh...well, this is going to be interesting.
You realize when I say destroy I mean it hypothetically right? It should be easy to tell from the context I was using it in. Normally, I would agree with your point about it being optional, but the option to craft a saddle is much more different than the option of say...crafting a coal block. Don't like the coal block? Don't craft them, alright, fine, the coal block does not give you any advantage over something. However, when I look at this from a multiplayer standpoint, I find that this could become trouble. Horses are very powerful mobs, and they're rare too. I think it's only fitting that their rarity of spawning should also come with the means to use their potential of riding them.
If I was to ever agree to the ability of crafting saddles I would want to make the recipe stupidly expensive, not just leather and iron. Horses' power should be a rewarding unlock to the player, that's just my opinion.

I started up a new creative world when 1.6 came out and the first dungeon I found had a saddle in it, so did the 2 nether fortresses, all 3 Strongholds and nearby blacks smiths, 3 out of 4 villages had them and 2 had saddles, and your here arguing with us that you cant find any saddles, you sir are ridicules, idiotic and pathetic, going around and telling everyone that saddles need a recipe because your too lazy to go and find ONE, JUST ONE saddle that you can use on any tamable horse. Next your going to tell us that wheat seeds are too rare so I cant tame a horse and that it needs to be fixed...

"Mining" is the collecting of materials to craft something. The word harvesting could also be used as a substitute It's trivial. The crafting recipe is already in the game its just tuned off. I am not implying nor have i stated i want to be able to craft everything, just saddles. The idea is not that hard.

Everyone he implies that we mine trees! We don't mine trees, we chop down trees to get wood to make a crafting table. So you need to CHOP (or punch) to craft to mine.
min·ing (mnng) n. 1. The process or business of extracting ore or minerals from the ground.
I see no reason there should not be a crafting recipe.
I do find it sorta ironic that the people who are arguing the hardest argue both that being able to craft it would be too easy and often at the same time that they are super easy to get via RNG (dungeons/villagers). If they are easy to get via RNG what is the problem with a recipe?
Bottom line, it isn't that saddles shouldn't be crafted or that their recipe needs to be flat out stupidly complicated, the base recipe was fine..... it is that Minecraft needs to have its whole crafting system overhauled. Not just have new items lazily heaped into RNG loot pools because its the easy quick fix answer.
All that said whenever I find a chest I'm generally happy with whatever is in it because it is usually a nice little perk. Yeah I have piles of Redstone for example but I'm still thrilled to find a few Redstone dust. So it isn't like the recipe and the RNG couldn't co-exist one does not have to cease being so the other can exist.
Are you calling me idiotic and pathetic? Huh...well, this is going to be interesting.

yes i know what you meant. i was not calling you names. it was a general comment toward the developers kind of thinking. i think its ridicules, idiotic and pathetic to add something to the game like horses and be limited to game play in a game that has so much mod and variety of play.
The answer is simple, I don't play multiplayer with the server jockies, i stated this in my initial thread. The solution is turn it on in single player mode. Besides a server has the ability to turn off almost anything they don't want for the most part. So the multiplayer argument of it "destroying" the game doesn't really hold that much water under scrutiny. you may not understand what turning it on for single player entails. It would NOT effect mulitplayer games as a result.
The point being is that saddles was craftable at one time. The recipe is still in the version, just not turned on. So in essence you cant trust the people that don't want it on to not craft a saddle? Lets just take the temptation away. that's ridicules.. LOL i think i have heard everything now. well lets remove dungeons form the game, i might be tempted to bore myself with that. or yeah lets get rid of strongholds as well, don't want me going in there LOL.

It most certainly will effect multiplayer games. When the 1.6 update finally came out, do you know what the prime item was players were hunting and selling? The two items that are not craftable, and only obtained from certain methods. Yeah, saddles and horse armor.
I want you to read this whole thing, and reply to me exactly why you think saddles should still be craftable.
If saddlers were to be craftable, do you realize how many different types of players that would effect just because you are too stubborn to play survival how it is supposed to be played?
Types of people that would hate to have saddles be craftable:
1. Regular item hunters that go mining/caving/dungeon hunting. It's a nice hobby a lot of us player have. And it gives us something to look forward to while going on long mining trips.
2. Players on multiplayer servers that collect rare items. Besides the dragon egg, which there is only 1 in the game, what other item can they tell players that they have which most will not have? Only 2 that I can think of that are not craftable. yeah, the saddle and horse armor.
3. Special type of players who do challenges such as the superflat map survival. They find it a nice challenge to be able to look for villages and hope that there is something good in it. If they could just make it, well, what excitement would be left in finding these villages? Just finding diamonds and basic things to get you started?
4. Players with common sense: If those two things were craftable, what would be the point of dungeons then? Collecting moss stone and just finding the spawner? Really? Where is the reward in that?
And then there is you. You, who wants saddles to be craftable just because you refuse to play survival how it is meant to played. You, who wants to ruin it for all of those player above who actually look forward to something while playing.
Now reply. I would freaking love to see why you think that your request should be fulfilled out of all of those players just because you can't do a little bit of work with villagers and get literally infinite saddles.
