I sense a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in butthurtedness, and suddenly left Minecraft forever due to horses.
Seriously though, why is this already a hot topic..... In two days this thread has generated so much controversy and flame posts....
If it means pigs would suddenly stop at every other mushroom in order to sniff it, wouldn't that make pigs even MORE useless as a rideable animal?
And what are those "truffles" exactly? I'm curious...
Please detail your idea that bit, preferably in another topic. Detail blocks, mechanics, whatever needed to make it into a complete suggestion.
That was someone else's idea. It would mean that you could walk your pig on a leash, and it would dig out random mushrooms sometimes, and occasionally, truffles, which if I remember properly, were a very good food item.
You could have written an erotic fan fiction about bill nye the science guy and chris rock in the middle few paragraphs of your post and nobody would ever know.

That depends completely on level of ambition, I was a bit vague in my previous post. The horses appearance may alter between 35 combinations, but a majority of these different patterns are just the bits that are changed, there are only a few base designs, but a vast quantity of patterns, so it could be worse, but the outcome is worthwhile, and I wish this could be done with all mobs, maybe as optional features in texturepacks and vanilla, that could be toggled off for lesser texturepacks, but it sure looks promising!
Oh, that's better then. And it can be done with all mobs with a feature in McPatcher/Optifine called Randomobs, you can even assign certain skins to biomes and height levels.
I used to hate the idea of horses, but now that I can play them (on the latest snapshots) they are really cool. I can already imagine people making red dead redemption and legend of zelda custom maps.
If we get horses Pigs will be useless for riding, and horses are too normal,
Without riding pigs Minecraft wouldn't be the same, and would stop being unique.
I encourage the idea of hay bales, carpets, and all the other 1.6 hype,
But we don't need horses. Jeb is just copying mods and its making minecraft boring,
If we want a mod we download it, not get forced to play it.
Minecraft is dying, and Horses would be the last straw.
Yes we should be able to craft saddles, but they should work on pigs ONLY.
Jeb, if you read this PLEASE DON'T ADD HORSES!
Comments would be nice, fellow forum-users.
Saying that horses will replace pigs is silly. Horses are very rare from what I've seen.
Honestly, I don't like horses very much, even after testing them out in the snapshot. However, I still don't think Mojang should remove it. I know plenty of people on my server who really like horses. And since they drop leather, I'm going to kill every wild one I see. That'll make finishing my library a bit easier
Horses are fine and so are pigs. We only have one snapshot and people are complaining? Guys just take a pill and chill with it. I wanna see more Mo creature's mobs in 1.6
Oh yes, Mojang is forcing you to use the horses. They are litteraly going in your house gluing you to your chair, making you play minecraft, screaming at you to get a HORSE!. Yep that's what they do
Lets remove watermelon and pumpkin and carrots and potatos because you can eat wheat.
Say no to coal, because we have charcoal. Gold? Say no to gold! It makes lapis lazuli useless!
Horses are good, m'kay. Pig riding was never 'practical' transportation, and doesn't lose any of its current lol-factor. the transportation that actually gets shafted further by horses, is minecarts.
Yeah!
Let's remove cows because they make porkchops useless!
>.<
Oh and I don't really think minecraft is "dying" quite the opposite really.
Also if people download mods because they make the game better wouldn't adding stuff from mods in theory make the game better?
Do you think if I borrow a shirt from my friend it's awesome but when I buy the same exact shirt it's quality would degrade?

Sorry man, its just one of those things you have to get used to. I'm a little back and forth on it myself but i'll get used to horses eventually, besides there has only been one snapshot so far so this feature is still in development.
Horses are apparently designed for combat. If so, then they should be made extremely rare! For instance, you'd find them in mushroom island biomes, in a special generated structure or find an extremely rare spawn egg to spawn it.
i was literally just playing around with horses in the snapshot, sniping skellys and charging zombes. I would go horse riding over pig riding in a heartbeat.
*giggles* It's too late, silly! It doesn't matter how much you scream and cry, the future is out of your control now! Might as well just stop struggling and accept your fate!

Isn't it just a case of "history repeats itself"? A subset of the players has always whined about anything new added to the game, and always will.
As shown by Sethbling in his review of the newest snapshot, chest mules/donkeys could come to be an extravagantly handy tool. I tend to have too much stuff cluttering my inventory, but due to its value and use I always have to carry it around. If not horses, at least keep the pack mule in the game. It could serve well. REALLY well.
