I've been experimenting for the past few days now, looking up and down YouTube and the forums but they all come to dead ends, and I'm trying to somehow make a way for Minecraft to get a skin offline. How the skinning works is when you log on with your username, it gives you your username (and the game downloads the skin from their server). Now, I was wondering... What if I saved my skin offline (or the skins of other players offline, as whenever there is a new player, the game will "attempt" to get the skin from the server. Let's say I'm at school or in a workplace... The minecraft skin server is blocked due to security issues, and logons are impossible. So, what - I use a cracked launcher. So, how am I make Minecraft "think" it's connecting to the skin when in fact I've redirected it to a file that I've saved offline.
I've found a web debugging tool, or "Charles" and I've found it can remap a webpage into a local file. So, what I was thinking was to change my skin save on their server or: "s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftSkins/aytimothy.png" into a file that I've saved offline, like some sort of redirection?
Here are my current settings:
Now, my question is: Is my configurations correct or am I doing something wrong; a mistake or incorrect method because this is the configurations I've been using and it's not working.
Before anyone says I'm trying to pirate it, no, I OWN MY OWN ACCOUNT. I just want the skin offline applied to myself and (maybe) others rather than getting the same skins (annoyingly) all-round, which means changing char.png which is out of the question; not what this is about.
If you also, didn't understand what is in that picture, basically I'm using Charles to swap a website for a file I'm using. So, eg. I attempt to open that webpage, it redirects me to that instead.
If anyone have an answer to this, please post it. I don't want hate-messages about "OH, DON'T PIRATE IT OR DON'T TRY HACKING" please. Please don't simply say "It's impossible". If you think that, ignore this thread. Thanks
My internet has been randomly exploding for the past few weeks, and I hate Steve. =P
And my brother plays a cracked game, and he can play online. So I doubt a lot of people will assume you're asking because you're playing a cracked game.
That means finding a means or a program to make Minecraft think it's downloading the skin from the servers, but instead, being redirected to a local file. That means anyone who connects to my LAN at school/work, being that the logons and skin servers are disabled, when they join (remember, only applies to my client), their skins (If I have it) will be loaded from a local file rather than the "blocked servers".
Erm, I don't play a cracked game. Here is a screenshot of the site. I bought it.
Need I say more?
Oh yeah... The site is blocked at the workplace/school...
This screenshot is only because I internet access at home, like everybody else.
So, that's why I'm asking for help. I don't want to see this:
Nevermind. Couldn't be bothered.
or get Steve skins all-round.
Um, did you actually bother to read my post? I literally told you how you can use an offline skin.
And my last sentence stated that people will probably not assume you're using a cracked game.
Wtf?
Good try. I see what you're trying to tell me but... Changing the char.png will affect all players if I play on LAN. The char.png determines the default skin (if a player does not have a skin). Oh, Steves still look like steves if they are a premium account without a custom skin, even with the char.png changed (while online obviously).
Do you even know that the char.png actually determines the skin of ALL players whose skin cannot be retrieved from the Minecraft skin server? This means while at school, my skin cannot be retrieved at all (and anyone who tries to play with me will get the same). That means all players will look the same. I won't be happy if everyone looks like me.
