It's possible that this will be added in 1.5. It was the lighting system that was stopping coloured light being added. In Mojang's most recent post, they mentioned they were rewriting the lighting system, but didn't give much info. It's possible that they will add coloured light at the same time, but it may just be fixing any existing lighting glitches.
Anything half-baked, that they didn't finish really, like hoppers, mountains (none above 124), the nether/end, villagers AI (they actually run straight into zombies even if there's an escape route), biome generation (ponds in deserts?), underwater, squid being unfarmable and allways dying, lack of potions and the enchanting system.
So yeah.
Lot of room for improvement.
Explain to me how hoppers, 'lack of potions', and the enchanting system are unfinished. And I don't think Squids were intended to be farmable. Ponds in deserts... have you ever heard of an oasis? I do agree that underwater, nether, and end content should be added, and I would like a terrain update but for now it's fine for me.
Where anywhere did a developer say the Hopper was SUPPOSED to be like the Allocator? I'm lost here.
The unused potions effects are things like blindness that provide no survival benefit and therefore are not needed, as map developers can access them with third party programs.
Link to where Jeb said that? I agree the enchanting system could be reworked, but the grinding is no longer true as it takes ~30 minutes of mining to get level 30.
Maybe then the generation could be changed to have a small area of grass around the pond to make it an oasis.
I really hate not being able to play survival without hunger. In my opinion, the survival in alpha and beta was more fun when I didn't have to leave my mine every few minutes to get more bread. It would be a lot more fun if there was some kind of classic difficulty, that had the health, but no hunger.
That is true is a few ways, i do miss those days.. But mojang had to make survival more realistic I guess.. But Yea I dont mean to start a Suggestion topic or anything but I think Mojang should make an option for hunger to be on, or not on.
I know about the Allocator. I've used the mod and read the suggestion. Hoppers are fine. And don't take the Wiki as gospel.. anyone can edit that.
And I'm pretty sure you can't throw a splash potion far enough away for it not to affect you at least a little bit. Very situational maybe, where the attacker is on a ledge and throws a potion to the defender below.
And so what if I agreed with you? I don't take sides on these arguments just because I can. I take whatever sides I believe in.
The terrain. Too boring and predictable. Not to mention that it's pretty much the only problem that can't be ignored, as xSatium said (no mod truly fixes the problem; BWG doesn't come close and NBXlite offers a more accurate beta generator than BWG, but even then it's the beta generator which had it's own flaws).
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
I've avoided threads like this in the past... but today I have a problem with Minecraft... and have no clue what to do about it other than start a new world... again.
Dead ends:
That point in SSP when you have what you 'need' to survive , when a good half of the games content has yet to be 'unearthed' but isn't really needed or is inaccessible without cheating due to where you set up base.
I'd have to say the most unappealing thing about Minecraft is the community.
i would have to agree with you on this. I love playing SMP, but some people on servers are just so rude and mean! I mean, ok... I got on a server called brocraft creative, right, and was given a lot and started building. Next thing i know, another guy just starts shooting me with flaming arrows (we were in creative, so it didn't hurt me) I built a pretty dang nice house, too. Next day, when i log in to the server, half of my house was just gone! (I have a feeling that the guy that did it, was the same person who was shooting me with the arrows)
1. Treetops in my treefarm that are too high to be mined from the ground and have concealed branches you can't see and that keep new trees from growing.
2. Skeletons shooting you while in water, nothing like being dragged to the bottom of the ocean by arrows and then having your items fall so deep, you drown before you reach the ocean's bottom.
3. Not having any animals to eat spawn at the start of the game, and then starving to death before I find iron to start a wheat farm.

Somewhat true though it can take time to find the right one. Even then change on the server you get attached to is inevitable thus the cycle continues... I've only been devoted to one other server but the current one I'm on is way better. However, I seem to be losing interest a little everyday due to somethings but I guess it's just loosing interest in Minecraft in general... Oh well can't be helped.
I don't really hate anything about Minecraft, but there are many things I dislike.
The terrain generation. Overall, it's boring, predictable, and ugly. There are too many ponds in the desert, village generation is horrible, jungle trees are way way too tall. There is barely any flat land to build on anymore, mountain biomes suck, oceans are continuous, and too plain, and most of all, all of the biomes look the same, without any variation. That is the one thing I would change about Minecraft.
The witch and the bat. Bats have no use, and they are annoying, and witches are way too rare to be part of the game. It just takes up extra space.
The client server merge. i understand that it makes updates faster, but I would much rather have slow updates and a good running game, over faster updates and a jittery laggy game.
Lack of options. With every update, my FPS goes down more and more. They seriously need to focus on performance issues, because I used to get 80, and now I average around 30.
How difficult it is to set up a server, and even find a good server. Servers these days are overloaded with plugins, have corrupt admins, and have no fun in them what so ever. I would mainly stick to small private servers, which allow 5 or so people.
Small things, like losing glowstone upon breaking, redstone washing away by water, night being shorter than day, and a few other things.
How mojang can let the community down sometimes. Mojang said modding API would be out in 1.3. Then, they said 1.4. Still nothing. If they don't release it in 1.5, I am gonna be so angry.

Probably a bad server.
