It shouldn't be improved. It's fine as it is, as a starting weapon in a game.
Exactly this.
If you are to say that wooden swords are kinda useless, then you might as well go and say the axe, hoe and shovel are also kinda useless. As Scar said, they're starting tools, they're meant to be not very durable and generally weak. It's the entire point of building up weapon tiers.

I know but look at leather armor, it was useless and then you could color it and hardcore players use em instead of iron armor.

What..? I'm pretty sure no one is legit using dyed leather armor except for custom maps, and defiantly not over iron. That makes no sense what so ever.

Agreed. Just like wooden axe and wooden pick axe. I use then at the start of a new map to get better. The durability is just what u need to get stone to create the stone upgrade tools.
I agree, but they are good if you don't want people to die RIGHT away in, lets say the Survival Games. They shouldn't be removed but like when my friends make wooden swords its useless because stone is so easy to get!

Sometimes, when I feel like giving myself more of a challenge, I'll wear leather armor instead of iron/diamond. I rarely dye my armor though.
i dont think it needs to be more powerful. they already made it more powerful in the 1.3 update so that wooden swords do 2 heart damage instead of 1.
and usually i dont make wooden swords i make directly stone swords, its better.

While alive, you have a 100% chance of dying, so don't sweat it.

Meh. all i have to say besides this. As for the weapon tier it isnt bad at all. Its a good starter when needed. How ever after the first 3 cobble stone, i skip the entirety of wooden tools, If anything its kinda useless. As for leather armor, there is one problem i have with it, it's harder to get that then iron. cows dont just spawn up the ying yang and its super easy to get. I find it much easier to get iron rather then leather. But im stupid and cant spell or use proper grammar, so what do i know.
it's overpowered. A hunk of wood being abe to KILL SOMEONE IN 5 HITS? Unless that was a baseball bat to the head, I doubt it. And using the T.M.I. mod you can make wooden swords that can hit impossibly high (add Sharp 10 to Smite or Bane of Arthropods 10, + Fire Affinity 10 + Knockback 10.)
I usually never wear armor, but I don't see how having the ability to color it made people want to use it.
The ability to color leather armor is quite nice because, in PvP minigames, it allows multiple teams to be easily identified while still having the same armor bonus.

My thoughts exactly. Unless I decided to spend days breeding cows, it's highly likely that I'll have enough iron to make an armor set before I get the same amount of leather. Also, except in certain circumstances, anybody who knows anything about the game will make a wood pick and only use it about three times. After that, there's no point in having anything less than stone tools.
Of course, there are the less serious uses as well. I've fought battles with my friends where we wore leather armor and used wood swords. We could have used diamond gear, but where's the fun in that?

There are two things that are infinite: the Universe and Human stupidity. And I'm not so sure about the Universe.
In fact, I dont even make wood swords. I only make a pick then make stone tools. And yes, I have seen on a server people using dyed leather armor instead of iron.
So how do you think the wooden sword could be improved? maybe coloring it?

Same here. I make one wooden tool an that is pick axe. I grind stone until its gone and make stone tools from that.
I usually never wear armor, but I don't see how having the ability to color it made people want to use it.

No, literally. Use a wooden pickaxe to mine three cobblestone for a stone pickaxe.
Then later burn the wooden pickaxe to char a piece of wood to make one piece of charcoal.
