The gold bar looks like a stick of butter. It's also soft like butter.

I'd point out that some nasty margarines are quite yellow.


Anyway, people have been referring to their butter armor since it was first implemented to this game.

Why? Do, or do not. There is no why.

Because if something's funny once, then it "must" be funny a thousand times, right? (Pro tip: If you ever find yourself raising small children, do not jump out from behind the couch and go "boo!" at them. It might be funny the first time, but if you do this even once, they will do it back to you every time you enter a room until they are at least fourteen years old. Sometimes they won't even wait for you to leave the room first.)

It looks like butter, it tastes like butter, it smells like butter, it has the consistency of butter, but it aint no but-JUST KIDDING. ITS BUTTER FOLKS

He didn't say it was 80, he said it was above 80. In contrast to that of butter which, I am going to assume, is roughly 80°F.

If it is butter, then why is it called gold in-game?

Do you know what the word above means? Or to you is it just some tag-word sometimes put into sentences?

It also marks no resemblance to butter. Butter is a white, fatty glob while gold bars, such as the ones in minecraft, are shiny, yellow metals.

You also cannot characterize gold to be soft. It's too general, and in most cases wrong.

This is not soft; This is rigid and brittle.

I just had a thought; Even though I've NEVER heard of gold being referred to as butter. Imagine how screwed they'd be if Mojang added butter later on.

Although you clearly have a lackluster ability to just deal with things and accept the thoughts of others, I'll humor you and point out the reasons, perhaps you'll actually listen:

1: SkyDoesMinecraft
(that's the obvious reason)
2: It's used as an ingredient to improve foods
(a good enough reason by itself)
3: It's soft and yellow. Might as well be butter.
(A lot of people have said that, but I'll join in.)
4: There isn't already an item in the game with that name
(Minor reason, but that's one less reason not to call it butter.)
5: For the novelty of an inside joke.
(It's amusing. Pick up on the trend or don't, but hate will always be unneeded. personally, I hate picking up on trends, but that's not an excuse to be a hater.)

I guess we call it butter after people started to say it, then it just got embedded in "minecraftian slang".

I'm fascinated with your ability to perceive the smoothness of items in a 16x java game. Actually, I think what you mean in 'malleable', not soft, but that still wouldn't prove your point. Butter is also not yellow, it's white. Calling gold butter on the basis of it yellow color is like calling a lightbulb a member of your family because it can be found in your house.
