I'm not trying to force people to go back to Alpha. It's just that, if I update to the lastest snapshot, I'll be no better than those that play Call of Duty or Battlefield. I'm also not saying that Alpha is better in anyway. I just wanted to share why I, among thousands, am probably the first that's going to permanently leave the "current" minecraft.
As the wise Face of Boe once said, You are not alone.
The last thing Minecraft needs before it escalates to total stupidity are tanks, wars, weapons and pregenerated modern citites. Back on topic well explained post!

Hold on, hold on. I'm not too against pregenerated cities.
At the time I wrote the OP, I was beginning to go slightly delirious with lack of sleep (Should update it...Eh, too lazy atm). It wasn't the RPG things I hated, it's that it's no longer Mojang's game, but a game made by Redditors. I heard that Jeb suggest horses but apparently the community whined. There's a problem when the community has more power than the developer and that's what saddens me.
Notch had tons of great ideas: lanterns, coral, steel, spikes, seasons, goblins, too many to list here. In fact, I feel bad for all of the End stuff that was added in. I don't really hate it so much as it feels like it's tacked on. You can see what plans Notch had in mind, but somewhere along the way his vision wasn't fully realized so now we have a giant empty space ruled by dragons and endermen...with a lame ending.
If you will excuse me, I'm off to update OP before I get into another heated discussion over RPG elements...
That's a really good point. It seems like most of the newer features were tacked on in the hopes of making Minecraft reach areas that it shouldn't even have attempted to go. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the end or the Enderdragon, but they do seem like fairly cliche fantasy aspects. I mean this isn't World of Warcraft were you have to gear your character up, stack healing potions, and get a competent group of players to take down the boss......oh wait.
Minecraft is trying to be too many games at once with all this community content. It's great in moderation, but when you over-saturate it then the game kinda loses it's sense of direction, but they have said there working on more focused updates so you might wanna take a break from Minecraft and wait a couple of months to see if anythings changed.

I wouldn't call them cliche per se. And I only bolded it cause I'm reminded of ImAnderZEL on a mindcrack server....Not everything has to be related to World of Warcraft - Simon Lane
Those aside, I don't think they are cliche because they are something fresh, something different, not much different, but I' have learned that its easier to look at games individually rather than trying to compare it to other games. It makes the game able to stand on its own and not be beaten down by competition.
And the break is what I'm planning to do. I've got Dune 2000 with my name on it.
" Soon we'll have craftable saddles"
I could've sworn it was possible with leather.. I guess I'm just crazy then. Well, villagers trade 'em anyways.
*edit* searched around a bit, and they're not..? I swear to god I've crafted saddles in the past, over a year I'd say, but still nonetheless definitely happened. I just asked a few friends and they remember them being craft-able too, are we just from the wrong world or something?
I've been playing Minecraft for almost 2 years now (since Beta 1.3_01). Really the thing I miss the most is the feel of survival and the sense of danger. When I see mobs in MC now theres no feel of danger and theres no "Oh !" moments. The food bar is stupid also. It really toned down the feel of danger and survival. When you took damage in the older minecraft and you lost hearts it was scary and you really had to think about how you could kill the mob without taking much damage. Or how I could sneak away from the mobs without being seen. In MC now all I gotta do is run away and eat food and Im fine.. Theres no survival elements. I miss the survival elements to the game.

They probably were craft-able at one point, but I believe you may have had a mod.
If that's genuinely the way you feel about it go back to 1.7.3. I personally would love nothing more than 1.7.3s food/health system with all of the other current features. For me the last few updates have been a blessing and have allowed me to vastly improve my building skills.
I love how many blinded Minecraft fanboys miss the point. His point is,what happens in RPG mods stay in RPG mods. Still don't get it?
Some things belong in mods, not to be added to the game.

They just didn't blend what they added together the right way. What makes me sad is knowing that the little things we enjoyed in beta like furnace carts and waiting in nether portals will be obsolete or removed for future generations of players. I also think hunger could of been more of a buff than a complete necessity.
Dinnerbone, Jeb, Mojang employees, they are humans, their creativity are limited, you can't expect them to surprise you every time a new update come out
The problem I have is that they have ideas of their own. Spike blocks and lecterns were Dinnerbones, Notch had thoughts of steel and coral, and Jeb was the one that wanted to add horses. I know they are human, but it is their game, not ours. Why don't they add things they want? I would have actually enjoyed lecterns because then I could have remade a lot of game worlds, among which I wanted to make Medieval from PlayStation.
Who knows? Maybe having steel would have made the game slightly interesting. Maybe you could have re-created LotR had they added horses.
On top of that, apples now drop from trees and zombie pigmen drop gold nuggets effectively turning the Gold Apples into fairly worthless items as well as making gold even less valuable. Mushroom stew went from being able to fill up your entire health bar, to healing 4 hunger bars, then to 3 hunger bars. Charcoal is obtained by cooking log and wither skeletons drop coal. Now coal is worthless. Iron golems can spawn in large villages and be killed to get iron ingots which had gotten a spawn boost when Full Release 1.0 came out. Zombies can drop iron get and you can also trade for it from villagers. Iron is worthless now. Slimes spawn in swamps and Witches drop glowstone, glass bottles, and redstone.
1. Gold wasn't ever really valuable
2. Coal isn't worthless, it's always useful, and I believe wither mobs are some sort of a challenge.
3. Iron Golems ARE INCREDIBLY HARD TO KILL, so don't even say that iron is useless at all. Plus if you made the golem, you'd be happy to get some iron back. Plus it's just plain realistic to scavenge parts.
4. Zombies dropping any iron ingot or tool is rare. So that doesn't make it "useless" either.
5. You have to be lucky when villagers will randomly get the chance of selling iron ingots too, so it also doesn't make it useless, because you're gonna have to gather resources to trade to HOPEFULLY get iron ingots for trade.
6. I'm glad slimes spawn in swamps now! It makes a lot of sense to have something slimy and gross from a swamp, and plus they were pretty rare to find before, and if you wanted a lot of sticky pistons, then it'll be a while to get them.
7. As for witches, glowstone isn't rare, glass bottles are easy to make, and I don't see why I should even complain about redstone.
8. Earlier in your post, the creepers being afraid of cats is suppose to be lame.
I agreed with everything else you said, though, even though I did sound harsh from my list of disagreements. But stop saying things are "worthless" and "useless", you were using the word completely wrong, and I can't see why someone could really be all boo-hoo about having things as renewable resources.
Just don't even update anymore. An overused argument is overused because it is a good and valid point.

Do I win the 500 dollars if I last longer than your "prediction?"

Why wave good bye when you can go back in time :3
Hey everyone, I'm back!
They probably were craft-able at one point, but I believe you may have had a mod.
*Takes minute to try and make sense of the words* .....Ohhhh! I guess its a nice gesture is all.
Downgrading your Minecraft is always a interesting thing
